Hi everyone, just wanted to bring up to speed on how I have been feeling of late. I still get daily headaches, not as intense as last year this time. My sense of well being is gradually improving and I am having shorter duration time of malaise type feelings, fatigue is slowly improving as well. My spirits are getting better as well. Lets put it this way in comparison to last year at this time from 0 to 10, 0 feeling horrible and 10 feeling great, last year I was a minus 1, as for this year I would say I'm a 5. There are steady but extremely slow improvements. My biggest issue are the headaches and symptoms related to my headaches. So my physiatrist has recommend i start taking Topamax, those of you that have took and have been taking Topamax how have you responded with this medication?
Currently on 100mg/day zoloft, ED |

What Happened: 3/6/14 I was leaning in to pick my phone off the floor of my car and hit my head on the door frame. No immediate problems but I woke up the following day with blurred vision, nausea, fogginess and memory issues. Headaches came the next day along with speech problems. CT scan was clear. Took a few weeks off work. Went back for half days for two weeks. Then: 4/14/14 While still recovering from the first concussion I hit my head on the edge of my desk. Immediate headache, nausea and blurred vision. Doctor referred me to a neurologist who prescribed physical therapy for my neck, as I get incredibly stiff/sore necks daily which helps to bring on the headaches. Doctor also referred me to a counselor, who is helping me to cope with the anxiety and panic that has come up in my post concussion world. I deal with severe sensory problems and the frequent bout of aphasia. And Then : 10/6/14 I was cleaning something (ok cat puke) up from underneath my new glass table when I stood up too fast right into it and voila, trauma #3. I was out of work for a month and a half this time. Noise problems, aphasia, etc. |

Topamax has really been a life saver for me. I know some have hated the brain fog and aphasia issues.
I have been able to reclaim my life: no vertigo-no migraines-no headaches. I combat brain fog by strict sleep regime (same time sleep routine, no computer, no coffee, melatonin, eye mask, ear plug). I cut out gluten. No dairy. Exercise daily (walking). Eat Autoimmune paleo diet. Lots of water. Self-care has risen to top of my list. It's almost 2 years - but I think topamax has been the only med to get rid of a lot of the constant head pain and inner ear pain. It's not for everyone, but it really has been the right one for me. I'm at 30 mg at night, 20 mg. at morning. Slowly titrating up to 100mg. Best of luck!
