Default Need help!! Worsening symptoms

My son is 10 months post concussion; was progressing ok; then 2 weeks ago tried riding bike, jolted his head going off a curb, and now symptoms are back along with new ones. He did go to chiro after this incident. Things kept getting worse and now he can't read very much, has light sensitivity again, feels pain in his head when he walks on the bottom of his feet so he walks on his toes very slowly. He continues to have pain to the back right side of his neck. Could this be nerve related? He is getting depressed as this has been a very long ordeal. We saw 2 doctors last week discussing the possibility of post traumatic stress along with 'we don't know what'. The only response was to take the migraine medicine (from the first doc) and pause to think every hour about what is making him anxious and whether or not that could be real.??? (the second doc) Excuse me but my son is spending all day every day taking it easy and "thinking" about everything. He would like something more than this and so would we, his parents. Anyone out there with any ideas?????? THANKS SO MUCH!

Does his chiro do the 'twist the head and pop the neck' adjustment ? This may be too aggressive for his neck. Some gentle traction and mobilization of his neck may be better. Does he ice his neck ?

Yes he does do the twist and pop adjustment and we do have some concerns thus my son has not been back this week. He ices sometimes. Do you think we should go to the ER and repeat our concern once again? I just think my son may have damage to the neck or spine that we have missed. That and the fact that he is so down.

I doubt the ER will be much help. A physiatrist (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation MD) may help. Or a NUCCA or Atlas Orthagonal Chiro may be better. Healing the subtle injury to the neck can be difficult. It takes discipline to care for the neck with good posture, especially when resting or sleeping.

Default Vestibular?

I am sorry your son is on the PCS roller coaster ride! I do not know your sons story sorry. I do not spend a lot of time on computer gives me headaches. Has he had his vestibular checked? I know that my PCS started slow but by my 1o month I was full blown PCS amongst my other diagnosis.

I am not a dr but I strongly agree with Mark about chiro. My chiro did more damage to my neck than good resulting in starting to get arthritis. I also support getting vestibular checked with TBI's. I had to go threw vestibular therapy and it helped, because my vestibular was thrown off from accident. I wish you the best and know in time improvements will slowly come.

I went to a chiropractor for 3 sessions but was wary of the neck clicking, not sure it does much good just sounds impressive, certainly didn't help my crunchy neck. I think massage is a better idea. PCS recovery isn't a linear journey, I've had relapse's that have passed and left me feeling better than before which I can't explain. Anxiety is the highest enemy.
