Ask to see a neuro-psychologist and have a neuro-psych exam. That's a much better way, than an MRI, to measure the impact of your injury. It will also help you target your therapy. Validation and a path to improvement - you can't beat that.

Seeing a neuro-psychologist was the single best thing I did after my mtbi.

hockey you're not going to believe this but I saw a piece of garbage neuropsychologist on Staten Island who told me in literally 30 seconds I was fine he wish I didn't go there and was I looking for a lawsuit I swear to God word for word that mother F. if that was me 10 years ago I would have beat the **** out of him right there excuse the language. I should try another one I'm not going to Staten Island because Staten Island is it is usually a garbage dump of doctors. I don't know where you are in your injury but I'm at the point after 7 years very that I accept being home with the lights out and sleeping all day with Advil PM or trying to get some relief and some kind of life.thanks for the advice though I wil see another one

My 7th year anniversary is later this month, so I know how you feel.

Yep, there are a lot of SOB doctors out there. As I was an MVA victim, the default was to think I was embellishing to win a lawsuit. OMG, like I would give up my great career and active life for the pittance I could win in court.

As I said, I turned to my Brain Injury Association for help finding my neuro-psychologist. I think that testing, and the therapy I received as a result, saved my life. I was just at the end of my rope.

oh my god we are so in the same boat. People including friends and family think I gave up my job making three times as much as my disability so I could stay home and rot. Incredible. My big problem is forgetting what I was making and learn to live with what I'm getting now and not dwell on the past. much easier said than done. Also I would pay all the money I have for one decent 8 hour at least 7 hours a night of sleep with no interruptions and not remember any of my dreams and my trembling lol

Mark, if a Dr told me I was making all this up for a lawsuit I think I'd go crazy right there in front of him!!! what an ***.

As Hockey and Mark suggest, try your local brain injury assoc. for a referral to a neuro-psychologist, for God sakes they are the ones who would understand.

Should you bother? yes, absolutely, keep on going, you deserve to feel better and to know what's going on.

I get so down from all this and the awful Dr's and their dumb sayings but tomorrow is another day, that's how I try to think and never, ever give up.

Someone out there is the right Dr for you.

You, Mark and Hockey have been through years of this, me....only since early last year and that's been bad enough but it's been a long time for you guys.

thanks for the words of encouragement. Sometimes it doesn't feel like 7 years it feel like it happened all at once. You are right that we can't give up.
