Default Having multiple bumps and scared of them

Hello,
I started visiting this forum last summer, when while practicing handstand I fell on my back. I haven't almost hit my head but I could feel some shaking. Next day I had a quick visit at ER and nothing was found. I had some dizziness and difficulty concentrating at my job for about 3 weeks, after which luckily I had some vacations and all symptoms disappeared!

Most annoying symptom was the tingling and bad/salty taste in mouth, forcing me to drink or chew something all the time.

Fast forward this year when in April I hit the top of my head while training (again!!) doing pull ups. Can't quantify strength of bump but remember seeing stars. Anyway hit was not enough to have swelling, I only had little pain for few minutes. For the next 3-4 days I felt again a little dizzy/tired and again that tingling in mouth, after which everything was good.

One week after, I was going bed and while dragging myself towards the head of the bed I hit my head (again!!), very lightly and again no bumps and little pain for few minutes. But this was enough to scare me and strongly affect my mood. The next morning waking up I had again an intense tingling on the tongue and feeling someway depressed and dizzy. The day after I did a long travel by car of about 5 hours in which I developed a very strong headache that left me in the bed for 2 days.

I've been fighting for the next weeks at work quite hard, staring at PC monitor and concentrating was hard. I am an engineer and my job is very demanding in term of concentration. In the upcoming weeks I've eventually seen an improvement over time.

I've visited two doctors telling them what I've just written. First one said everything is fine and no visit to neurologist is necessary.

Second one acknowledged there may have been some lesion in brain nerves causing that feeling in the tongue. He gave me a sort of light anti-depressant (ademetionine) and some magnesium and multivitamin. I've also added to this B12. He looked available but he doesn't think I needed a neurologist as well.

But he also thinks some of my problems are psychological because of my life style (long story short I am a young professional living alone in a foreign country since ~3 years and since then almost no social life).
That visit was in end of May and I think I have good days and bad days since then.
My problems are always some dizziness, some difficulty concentrating and that bad feeling in the tongue and mouth, depending on the time it's tingling, bitter or burning. In some occasions I also think my problems of digestion are accentuating the feeling. (What's funny is that when I'm riding my bycicle the problems seems to pause and I am not dizzy).

Since that latest bump I've been attentive to where I put my head, but again!!! I managed to have another small bump yesterday. I was unloading my luggage from a bus, of course keeping in mind that it was something potentially dangerous for my head, so trying to move slowly but I didn't take into account the cargo door that was hanging over my head

Now again have re-accentuated feeling burning in my mouth and sadness. But how this is even possible? I had for sure no whiplash as my head was moving slow and the hit was someway on the side so not breaking the motion of the head but maybe deviating it a little. It was a bit painful as the door is sharp and pain was there for 5-10 minutes but no swelling at all. I also had the impression I hit on a rubber part but when looking the door there was just metal....
After this again I felt sad, scared and I have some stronger tingling in tongue than previous days.

Now I would like some opinion from you as I dont know what to think , if really every little bump is objectively worsening my situation. I start to believe part of my problems are psychological but I can't be sure of this...

As I side note in February I had a period where I was feeling tired, yawning during day and a bit dizzy and some headaches sometimes. Eventually it disappeared by itself. Doctor diagnosed it as only stress.

misma,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. A lot of what you explain sounds like anxiety. As the doc said, it sounds like you have a high stress level and minimal ways to relieve stress. The bumps may cause some very slight symptoms but your anxiety makes them much worse.

It does not sound like you have anything worth trying to treat until you have found ways to reduce your stress levels. The ademetionine (SAMe) is an interesting recommendation. You could add some Omega 3 DHA fish oil and a B-50 complex. Read my post in the stickies at the top 'Vitamins and Supplements"

Keep in touch. There are plenty of good people here.

btw, What country are you in ? Where are you from ?

My best to you.

Thanks Mark for the reassuring words. Yes I am aware I can be anxious and stressed and that I haven't really nobody to help me relax.
And just recently I think I realized that in my case "stress" is not being too tired of job/life but a combination of many other psychological factors.

At the moment my job is the only real thing in life that keeps me motivated and I can't afford to under perform in it.

It's hard for me to acknowledge that symptoms that I experience in a objective way are originating from stress. Especially that weird feeling on the tongue that really I can't explain.

I will have a look at your recommendation about supplements and try to take it easier. About me currently I am in Switzerland and I am originally from Italy.

At least believing in God helps me feel not so alone and I can hope that things will get better.
