Default Post Concussion

Guys I need your help!!! Here's my story. On July 1st of this year I hit my head. Nothing more then a little bump and a cut. Rest of the week all was well. Only Saturday night my legs got heavy, I was puking, dizzy and shaking. I was rush to the Hospital and treated for dehydration. At this time I didn't mention anything about hitting my head because I honestly forgot. As the next few days went on I feel dizzy, light headed, heavy feet, discombobulated and tired. A light bulb went off and realized that I hit my head and thought do I have a concussion? I made a doctor's appointment with my primary and he felt confident it was a slight concussion....I have an appointment with a neurologist on July 30. This would be my 4th concussion, but this one is effecting the most.

Here are my questions....

1. my symptoms..Seem to be getting better slowly...TIRED!!! dizzy,my feet do not feel heavy anymore..MAJOR ANXIETY!!!! Headaches, irritable..
do these sound like a concussion?

2. Can I feel good one day and the next day my headaches, dizziness come back? Is that normal? THIS IS MY MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION.

3. Anxiety is driving me crazy!!!!!!! Since I've only seen my primary so far how can he look at me an diagnose me with a concussion???? What's the difference between a concussion and a brain tumor?

4. Any advice on quick recovery?

Thanks guys and girls!!!!

Mike from Boston

Concussions often result in a roller coaster of symptoms. The ups and downs can be quite extreme.

Concussion vs tumor ???? A tumor is a dangerous abnormal growth. It is a very rare condition that would not have a roller coaster of symptoms.

Your PCP is just as good at diagnosing a concussion as a neuro. Most neuros are no better at treating concussions that PCPs. In fact, neither have much they can do to treat a concussion except for some of the extreme symptoms.

The only advise for a quick recovery is to not worry about a quick recovery. The time it takes to recover is individual. You can do things to slow recovery but you can not speed it up. Avoid stress. Get good brain nutrition. Avoid bad brain foods and beverages. Check out the Vitamins sticky at the top. Get good rest.

How did you celebrate the 4th ?
