Just curious if anyone has any evidence or knowledge of how a tbi with pcs can conflict with people who have hypertension?
I myself have hypertension, usually its around 150/90. Since my fall ive noticed its averaging slightly higher. |

my various head injuries have caused what is known a malfunction of the autonomic nervous system. And regulations such thing as heartbeat blood pressure sex and other things. I have been affected in many ways. I am certainly not saying you have this I am just saying blood pressure can be affected by a head injury. Please do not be alarmed or read anything into this. It is very uncommonand if that is your only autonomics symptom it is very treatable. it can also be a simple as pain I'm causing the increase.

Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily. Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well. Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off) Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath |

the parts of the brain that control autonomic functions took a couple of good blows in my case. that explains the temperature disregulation, bp problems, sleep problems, bowel and bladder problems, men problems, goose bumps..and the each has to be treated individually. there is no one pill treatment. you are still in the early stages of recovery and should keep much hope alive. after 7 years, I am pretty much stuck with these occurrences.

very interesting article -After my accident I was getting high BP reading when going to doctors and still do. I have many years of physicals before accident and bp was very normal. I have noticed hypertension appears in my medical records but no doctor has specifically told me the correlation. All my doctors are aware of my head injury. I need to remember to bring this up to my pcp next visit

are you kidding? if mark in Idaho reads this he will get a good laugh at the following. my old neurologist was wondering out loud why I had head injury symptoms and I said could it be that axonal shearing and damage does not show up on mris unless the damage is vast? he actually said "what?"
just the other day after my brain mri I asked the technician when he thought 3 tesla mris would be out to see cellular damage better? he was honest and said he didn't know what I was talking about. now to be honest. I don't know what I'm talking about completely. but I think I was close enough in the ballpark for them to at least say "maybe what you meant was the following"...but I got nothing. blank stares. |
