Default SHARE Exercises/techniques for various PCS symptoms

I have not found one good health care provider yet, who can address the cognitive difficulties, as well as other PCS symptoms I have. I saw a neuro-ophthalmologist, and was told that there is no abnormalities although I continue have some vision issues(seeing hues). Is there an exercise/treatment for reading difficulties/memory issues/foggy brain? or any other PCS symptoms?

PLEASE SHARE!

I finally got a good nights sleep with xanax and ambien together. I was able to think much clearly for at least some of the next day. For the pain I might need oxycodone because it is getting worse. When I find that I can't type as well as usual I just go slower. When I find out I am stepping over my words I talk slower. and when I find out that nothing is working I write you or hockey a terrifying letter lolif I think of more I will let you know. I do know that I need plenty of sleep with this head injury because I get very tired very easy.

Hi Will,

Can I ask what reading difficulties you're having?

Last year I couldn't read as the words looked like they were bouncing around, plus had headaches and pressure behind my eyes.

Went to therapy for that and she had me do exercises at home, I had letters on either side of a wall and had to turn my head to look at each letter making sure my eyes were on the letter, it really helped, but maybe that's not what you mean?

I was told there is therapy for the memory issues which I have to ask my Dr about next time as I need to do that, they teach you coping skills i'm told.

Foggy brain...don't know, hopefully someone will chime in on that one, I am 17 months from my accident and the brain fog is not as bad, comes and goes.

I'm with Mark too with the sleep, need plenty of it, not getting it right now and can feel a difference.

And Mark, how come Will and Hockey get terrifying letters and I don't??!! lol just kidding!

I used to have the exact same symptom!(words bouncing around). Do you know if this is a neuro-ophatomological condition?

Now, it may just be a concentration/brain fatigue issue. I miss words. The words do not bounce around, but sometimes the page looks a bit weird and it is just damn hard to get through. cannot read much either. ugh...

cannot multitask... If I have to read out loud, I have no idea what I am reading...

Multitasking is not healthy for even healthy brains. It is a cause of mental stress. This has been well researched.

Try using a piece of blank paper under the line of text you are reading. It will help your eyes stay on the correct line. That is why I ask people to limit their posts to 5 lines before using a double paragraph space. My eyes want to jump around the text trying to find the line I am reading.

The reading out loud is a common problem. Sometimes, it will help if you pre-read the section of text.

This thread may do better if it was separated into two threads. One would be work-arounds and techniques for dealing with symptoms. The other would be exercises or therapies for improving symptoms (healing).
