sorry moderator wanted this to be new thread
I am very overweight. but this only started recently. am on losartan 25mgs for blood pressure and take simvastatin for cholesterol. . I have dysautonomia, which means autonomic nervous system doesn't work right, and because of my depression from head issue have RARELY left the house the past year. Rarely left the couch!!! trying to turn a new leaf , arms both also got tingly, left side feels funny but left side ALWAYS feels funny since head injury. there is nerve damage to both arms so I don't know if that's why they got tingly. just had mri of brain all clear. sonogram of neck, my regular doctor is out for two weeks, ER is waste of time, can go to clinic but they wont know my history. don't know what to do. is it the weight, over 300,? the dysautonomia?, the meds? just sitting home and not moving for a year??? ive had one million tests for weight loss surgery including sonogram of the heart, ekg etc. only thing is slightly enlarged heart and thickened heart wall. they couldn't do bigger heart tests because of the weight. trying to turn life around but really put my body in a hole. This doesn't happen when I walk to the bathroom from couch lol. once I am up a few minutes it starts. and I get extremely sick. help |

My GUESS... is meds and movement combination... i am heavy as well... I don't think it is that... since you have been home do you get dizzy when you stand? have you taken your BP today? Maybe it is getting too low since you went for a walk...

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily. Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well. Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off) Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath |

yeah why cant it be like other organs. go in, find the bad part and remove it or replace it with new part.
What I wonder is, even with stem cell therapy, will the damaged cells still function or will they be overtaken by good cells like mark in Idaho says, no point in wasting energy on the could be's of the future. here and now is hard enough. |

you know, one of the symptoms that won't let up even as i progress in other ways is my head pounds like the dickens when i stand up quickly or move to quickly. i've been increasing the amount of time i'm active--started with walking 100 feet, now i walk/bike about 1.5hrs day, but really, really slowly.
i haven't increased the speed much b/c of the pounding. so i've been googling this ****, naturally. and found something about Orthostatic Hypertension. Somehow arteries or whatever have a hard time adjusting and getting blood to your brain, and two risk factors are: - prolonged bed rest (yep, 3 months i barely moved) - tricyclic (or whatever they're called) antidepressants (yep, i'm on amatryptaline) i also think things got physically compromised (concussions can alter blood flow to the brain i've heard) b/c pounding started from day 1. so i'm eating a little more salt (high BP is not an issue for me, i eat like a bird and pretty healthy), hoping to taper off the amatryp, and gonna just hope it improves in time w/ movement assuming docs have no better ideas. let's keep on taking baby steps together even if we get our asses kicked occasionally for trying. am i allowed to swear on here?

April 11, 2014 Flipped in class 2 white water while kayaking, hit my forehead (was wearing a helmet). Lots of symptoms to begin with. Those remaining are fatigue, brain freezes/overstimulation, headaches, sensitivity to light and sound. Insomnia is getting better but still an issue, and appetite is ba-ack! Depression and anxiety are largely under control thanks to Lexapro, exercise, and a very distant light at the end of the tunnel. Drugs: Lexapro, occasional 2-5mgs ambien. Off amatryptaline. Taking about 453 supplements. Just started vision therapy, waiting on some blue-tinted prism glasses. "You will encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. I have these dizzy fainting feelings frequently. I have learned to get up slower. I often get up to go down stairs. If I do it too fast, I have to stop and grab the railing and get stable before starting down the stairs.
I have completely passed out twice. Never near the stairs. I try to learn to make slower moves.
