Also, I think it would be worthwhile to talk to your doctor about headache preventive medications. A commonly used one for post-concussive headache is Elavil (amitriptyline), though some on the board have also used nortriptyline. Another possibility is Topamax. These are medications that are taken daily (not just when a headache is coming on) and help prevent headaches from starting. They are sometimes paired with a painkiller for breakthrough pain. Gyrostim is only effective for a narrow set of symptoms, mainly vestibular issues. Not many gyrostim systems available.

Let us know how he goes, hockeymom.
I wonder how many of the gyrostim machine things exist? I think Mayo has one but thought it was only in trials. I read a bit about them after reading it mentioned earlier on the thread but didn't come up with much positive information at the time. |
