Default Overstimulation and tinnitus

Does overstimulation has any effects on the loudness of tinnitus? Since day one of my injury, I suspect that whenever I walk a bit more or have more screen time, my tinnitus is not immediately affected but is louder when I wake up in the middle of night and somewhat louder the next day. I am not too sure this is happening though and it may just be another bad tinnitus day and not because of over stimulation. Any similar experiences? Has it gotten any better for anyone?

Driving used to make mine worse, but these days it doesn't appear to have any effect. Sometimes I wake up in the morning with loud tinnitus other days it's soft, I can't really pin it down to anything. Yesterday I went to lay down after lunch and nearly fell asleep, that caused my tinnitus to spike, not what I expected. Mine's not so loud in the night any more and not as loud as it was generally. I'm still of the opinion that when my sleep gets better my tinnitus will get better too. PS I'm just over 6 months with PCS.

Wow! Are you able to drive after 6 months? Even I am at 6 months and those bumps and potholes while in a car give me a good beating. I no longer ride my motorcycle because of this super sensitivity of my head. I am not sure if it will get better anytime soon but I am fed up and haven't got much of a life besides my daily boring routine.

And about tinnitus, I try to avoid those power naps in the afternoon because they almost always for some reason make my tinnitus louder, even after a 10 minute nap it gets louder.

I wonder if you also have problems with your adrenals because this can also cause tinnitus. I have it myself and whenever they get weaker it gets louder.

Yes, I'm going to avoid power naps too! Do you do neck exercises or massage I wonder if that might help you. To get my tinnitus down I relax in a chair use my MP3 player and headphones gradually reducing the volume, seems to help.

@adrenalfatigue81 I've heard that raised cortisol levels can cause tinnitus so there could be a link, that might explain sleep issues too. Do you think it could be exhausted adrenals? I was living in a heightened state of anxiety for a few months.

I have pulsatile tinnitus. it keeps me indoors. I can't tell me where the beating noise is coming from when I go outside. going to have to get used to it.

Here's a link to adrenal dysfunction symptoms:

http://www.botanicamedica.co.uk/Adre...ypoadrenia.htm

and another...

http://www.bodyandsoulreconnection.c...d-dysfunction/

I think I have many of the hypo adrenal symptoms, probably what happens after being hyper adrenal. I'm guessing the PCS anxiety symptoms are caused by hyper adrenalism. This ties in with a couple of other recent threads on both sleep and hormones.

In the begining the ringing in my ears was more or less of a warning sign that I had done too much for the day and my day was about to go down hill fast... anymore it does not seem to have any rhyme or reason

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily.

Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well.

Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off)

Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture

Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath

We haven't had anybody on board till now who says their ringing subsided a bunch after a year or two..I suppose it really is a permanent phenomenon no matter how better it gets overtime it doesn't leave you completely.

Still havent gotten rid of mine now. I tried mowing the grass today for the first time in a long time. Got a few minutes in before the pounding headache and the ringing got to much to bear, my neighbor finished for me.
