one more question.....I am on an arsenal of medications, one is for sleeping of course. Sometimes the insomnia is bigger than the pills...at night I take sleeping pill, pain pill, vertigo pill and a muscle relaxer....should put an elephant out, most nights yes, I sleep well, but some nights I am awake well over the meds.... is this normal for you as well?
I take Ambien 12.5...I think that's legal , along with Cyclobenzaprine 10 mgs, Neurontin 600 mgs, and if still awake two hours later, a .5 Xanax and a warm glass of milk...it's hit or miss, but a lot better than before because the ambien and cyclobenzaprine were added recently. Cyclo got rid of waking up with brutal muscle knots in head. So yes, you're not alone.

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I wish I had help to offer other than understanding what you are going through. I have never experienced anything as severe as you are experiencing but after decades of struggles, I do understand the emotional impact of your situation. I do understand your need to send your boy friend away. I have not been able to tolerate much stressful conversation this past year. It can make for an isolating situation. I even need to avoid stressful news reports on TV.

My best to you.

I am not on any medications at the moment. Although I was prescribed a host of medications, I do not want to put in pharmaceuticals into my system, unless I absolutely have to. I am on vitamins and supplements. This is a personal choice, however.

That being said, I have had multiple sleeping issues: waking up multiple times in the middle of the night, sleeping way too much come to mind...

The brain is a curious thing. I have had many odd symptoms as a result of my concussion. There is no such thing as "normal brain injury symptoms". Everyone is different. Hang in there. Our greatest glory is, not in never falling, but in rising again when we fall.

I respect your decision not to take pharmaceuticals Will. They are what got me in trouble in the first place.

However, I would go through Incredibly needless suffering without the Neurontin, which, as it turns out, isn't a placebo..It's pretty darn good

The flexeril taken at night helps me wake up without a painful knot in the back of my head

Xanax and ambien...I could give or take.

Simvo and Losartin and Dexilant are because I eat terribly

Mark In Idaho,

Having to isolate yourself is terrible. I feel like if I don't, I am just opening myself for a world of issues, and for the opening to hear "you are nuts." I used to be the social butterfly.

Actually, just recently I had someone tell me, "If you think you are better, you will be" I wish it were that easy. The same people have looked at me and said, "you need to eat, you have lost too much weight", oh well let me just think that my stomach isn't so nauseated and maybe then I can get a meal in.

I feel as if I am being attacked by an invisible terrorist. I put up the proper defenses, and the sneaky devil finds another way in. Hopefully here, I will find new tactics....he may still get in, but create less collateral damage.

If you think you are better you will be? Would that person say that to a cancer victim. I guess all those boys from the war with head injuries just need to THINK they are better. Come on.

I'm far along with this injury and things get better that even shock me, but at this point I have NO patience fro someone who doesn't believe me The **** with them

I wasn't lost or confused when I quite my job. I was sick. In a way I would wish on almost no one.

Are we not worth 10 minute of reading? I tell people to visit this board and see if the stories don't sound familiar. They probably don't Easier to call me lazy or drug addict or moocher.

Now I'm angry

My apologies. I did not articulate myself clearly.

I completely understand your situation and I am not advocating that medications do not work or that they need to be avoided at all costs. If I can get away with no medications, I do not take them. However, I do take medications when I am in extreme pain or if I need to.

I have just come to the conclusion that most people just don't understand the problems, they would rather find some nonsense reasoning than read about it.

Thanks to this site, I have found some new information that I am going to seek out the right specialist to address. I may be one of those long termers with these problems...6 days after my accident I was admitted into the hospital and a brain MRI done looking for a vertebral artery tear, they didn't find one, but did find white matter disease diffusely through the brain...well, they told me I was going to have alzheimers...that has weighed heavily on my mind to, as I can't live with the memory problems now... so I have found a neuropsychologist and many others who say this is concussion injury.

I will post the link as soon as I can...

Thanks everyone on here...you have no idea what an impact this site is having on my life positively.

They sound like idiots for telling you were going to get alzheimers. I hope you find a good new doctor and get relief from your symptoms
