Seeing a psychologist who specializes with TBI today, I found out that I suffered a coupe contra coupe. The initial injury being to the back of my brain, and equal force injury to the exact opposite side.

Therefore, why I am having so many difficulties with little or no progression. He is going to work with the neuropsych doctor to address these issues, and come up with a whole new way to treat.

It is my understanding that because the problems have lingered so long, that a lot of things will go unrepairable. However, with these new treatments I can look forward to learning new ways to deal with things.

sorry to hear about your accident? What symptoms are lingering? How long ago was your accident? were you knocked out?

My accident was over a year ago, I was not knocked out, shook up and disoriented. Within 20 minutes of accident I felt like someone hit me in the back of head/neck and left shoulder with a baseball bat.

I have cognitive issues, vertigo, nausea, extreme headaches...processing issues

Many of us with closed brain injuries have suffered coupe contra coupe injuries. It simply means our brain has bounced from one side of the head to the other, back and forth....kinda like a ping pong ball :-(

Yup. Its pretty common im told. Its what I was told as well with mine in January.

Yes, pretty much inevitable in any injury where the head in snapped back (like whiplash or being punched) or strikes something (like falling and hitting your head on the ground).
