Default melatonin, i take it back

I was pretty excited about melatonin--it was helping me sleep better and longer...but i think it ended up causing worse headaches and stabbing pains in my eye. I googled it, and apparently it can mess w/ pressure in the eyes. I quit a few days ago, and granted i've been resting a lot more, but no stabbing pain in the eyes.

So i rescind my recommendation of that supplement. I'm trying the trick of exposing myself to more light late in the day and getting a good hour of light exercise in...and dabbling with ambien when i need to.

Still waiting for that silver bullet to ease all my symptoms with no side effects.

Those remaining are fatigue, brain freezes/overstimulation, headaches, sensitivity to light and sound. Insomnia is getting better but still an issue, and appetite is ba-ack! Depression and anxiety are largely under control thanks to Lexapro, exercise, and a very distant light at the end of the tunnel.

Drugs: Lexapro, occasional 2-5mgs ambien. Off amatryptaline. Taking about 453 supplements.

Just started vision therapy, waiting on some blue-tinted prism glasses.

Huh. That is odd. The times I've taken Melatonin, I woke up in the middle of the night sweating like a sinner in church.

I need to exercise. I set a goal every week and fail. Miserably fail

ha! thanks for the laugh...indeed you are from the south. Sinners up north here don't break a sweat anywhere!

melatonin never worked for me. ambien and flexeril together work well. my problem is naps during the day. have to stop them and get outside and start fighting back a little. good luck to all.

Melatonin. Ugh. Thought I would try it instead of the sleeping pills. Which were working very nicely. One small dose of melatonin left me wired and aggitated for the whole night - which was not the effect I was hoping for.

I tried melotonin and woke up after four hrs with anxiety and was depressed all day.

My sleeping isn't as bad now, but I use 7.5 mg of zopliclone when needed, which works well, but leaves an awful taste in my mouth.

Melatonin works sometimes for me. It doesnt keep me asleep, but sometimes will help me start to doze off. Usually not though

melatonin is a hormone and people need to be very careful messing with their hormones after a tbi - they all interrelate and affect one another....

Maybe try 5-HTP melatonins precurser. It made me feel relaxed, but I've stopped using it now as I'm trying to adjust my diet and lifestyle to increase serotonin levels.

Talking of hormones I've replaced my 'healthy' margarine with good old fashioned butter to increase my cholesterol which is what hormones need. I read trans fats like veggie fats are very difficult for the body to process so I now use olive oil for cooking :-)
