Mark, he was kept do to the fact he was in no shape meaning he had numbness in his legs. He could not stand without assistance on his own. ( still can't without walker ) plus drs wanted to perform more testing ( second ct and mri. ) it's just concerning when some health care professionals claim he should be all better by now. Thankfully for me I heard today from neurologist this could take a long time. Not thankful for long road but thankful this dr seems to understand pcs.
Jo mar. He had a cuncussion. About a year ago but never missed work as it was no where near this degree. I explained to workers comp examiner this. And they never questioned it as they are now paying wages and medical. Symptoms now are a lot the same. Constant headache, blurred Vision, memory short term is aweful, very dizzy ( fallen 3 times) cannot stand light or any noise and now seeing depression setting in. Mike is not the one to be sitting around as his work ethics are second to none |
I would still be very suspect of a subtle neck injury. Inflammation in the upper neck can be contributing to his leg weakness and the other symptoms. He may benefit from some daily gentle neck traction therapy and frequent icing. He needs to be very careful with resting and sleeping posture. He likely has an injury similar to whiplash. Treating it as such will be helpful.
You could advocate for him by telling them that University of Buffalo research has found that 85% of concussions have these subtle neck injuries that do not show up on imaging. Ask if they can treat him as if he has suffered a neck injury. There are two specialty chiropractic protocols that may help. www.NUCCA.org and http://www.atlasorthogonality.com/Pa...e/aboutAO.html You may have to pay out of pocket to get him examined but it would be worth it. Then, you could try to get him treated by WC. Expect a starting work-up to cost $400 to $600 for X-Rays and such. My best to you both. |
