Goldenwillow, I am seeing a psychologist for the first time tomorrow morning per my doc's recommendation. I am unsure what I expect out of it...but feel nervous. I am hopeful it will help to talk about my fears, frustrations, etc, but not sure how I feel about talking to a complete stranger about them. I know I'm talking fairly openly with strangers on this site, which is abnormal for me, but it's not the same...

Took some time off the forum to process and here to update.

Met with my neurologist Monday. Positive appointment. We went over my neuropsychological evaluation. All the tests I took were scored very low but the 2 that stood out significantly were my memory and executive function.... scored incredibly low. He advised me that I am disabled in those areas and asked if I had applied for SSI, which I have started that process.

He advised Cognitive Therapy to help with function. He described it as "It 's like using a computer wih a sticky or non working button and still navigating around". Which we both agreed, that is what I have been doing for years. I am hopeful to gain more skills to navigate things better. Full time work is not an option. Part time possibly if the therapy proves helpful, but his tone in his delivery was doubtful but optimistic.

I am grateful to have this part of the journey behind me... been a year in March since my TBI diagnosis was documented.
