Two and a half years later I still have trouble experiencing some emotions. On good days, I still laugh and enjoy pleasure, and I still experience feelings of frustration and malaise on bad days.

However, I find the really sad emotions don't affect me like they used to. Today my mom told me that an extended family member passed away. Upon hearing this I didn't feel much, no lump in the throat or overwhelming sadness. Obviously I knew it was a sad thing though. Remember the little Syrian boy that drowned? Same thing, no strong emotional reaction...

In the past such news would kind of hit me like a brick. My dad died when I was quite young and that really hit me hard.

I heard that the cerebellum (area of my brain that is damaged) plays a role in emotional regulation. Perhaps this explains why I have trouble experiencing the physiological signs of emotions.
