Default Tinnitus from TBI

I was involved in a car accident over 20 years ago. The result was a severe concussion, among other injuries. Back then, there was not as much emphasis on long term effects of concussions so I never thought twice about it. I played football in high school, college and semi pro, and there were subsequent times after the car accident where I received some more blows to the head.

My concern is now I am experiencing hearing loss, memory loss, and relentless tinnitus. From what I have been reading it sounds like most of the people experiencing ringing in the ears experienced it fairly soon after a head injury. However, I did not start to have the effects until the last couple of years. Does anyone know if there's a latency effect of issues from brain injuries, and if so is it possible it can be 20 years later?

Many of the long term effects of concussions start to show up or increase in the 40 years old time period. Earlier for some. Your football play likely has put you in the category that makes earlier manifestation of long term symptoms likely. Hearing loss can make tinnitus more noticeable. Load music, shooting sports, and loud work environments can be the cause of hearing loss.

My tinnitus has become worse as I have aged. Recently, I started experiencing pulsatile tinnitus occasionally.

I encourage you to read the Vitamins sticky at the top. Hopefully, you can slow the progression of age related symptoms increases.

My best to you.
