Default Laying down on back

I received a concussion 8 months ago from a blow to the head and have been slowly (very slowly) recovering since. The only time I feel somewhat normal is when I'm laying down in my bed with my head elevated. Otherwise I suffer from fatigue, headaches, and cognitive problems.

Is there a reason why the lying down position is making me feel better?
