Just reread your bio.
I got my TBI is a high speed mva, too. I experienced something with my neck injury that my PT said was common. As Mark said, the swelling can take a long time to subside. When it does, your neuro symptoms can get worse. The swelling stabilizes the neck. As it goes down, there is less support for your neck. After months of inactivity, the muscles in your neck have atrophied and can't do their job. I ended up with my chin resting on my chest. As the swelling comes down, it is important to do gentle isometric exercises to help rebuild the neck muscles. Does your PT or chiropractor have you working on this? If you're starting to hear a lot of popping and grinding in your neck, you've reached the stage where the swelling is receding. It's a sign of healing - but, for a time, it can leave you feeling worse. Frustrating, I know. |

My C2 is out and both my chiro and RMT have been working on it this past week. The SCM muscles KILLED getting them massaged. I just bear through it and keep thinking that it will help. My T1 is also an issue and my chiro adjusts it with an activator gun. She said she can see improvement - so that is good.
