Default CSF Leak (cerbrospinal fluid)

Hi there, hope everyone is doing (relatively) allight.

Posted awiles back with my situ and thought I'd update, see if anyone has had/are having similar experiances.

My symptoms are still persisting and I'm still awaiting a neurology appointment to discuss whether I need a CT scan/MRI. Though to be frank it s likely I should have had one at the begining of all this.

When I recently had an opthamology apt (which went ok-ish) the doc evealed that they had been concerned that I had bone splinters pressing on the back of my eye. This has been ruled out but they suspect a bassilular fracture. I think, they are very cagey with the truth, tbh.... they always seem to think I have an ulterior motive! I just want to get better.

Today I was gently cleaning my ear on the injured side and a...dry scab of clear fluid, with a bit of blood in it, came out. I often have a wt sensation in that ear, and clear sheet like susbstance in my nose (definately not a bogey lol), and the feeling of fluid at the back of my throat with a strange, almost salty taste. At the begining the Dr said this was cerbospinalfluid....but shoud it really still be leaking after nearly 3months?

I still get an awful lot of pain at the injury site, from above my temple into the hairline and down round my jaw on the left side. Tinnnitus. Fatigue: if I'm having a good day and push myself too much I get uncontrolable shakes and exhaustion that lasts for days. I have panda eyes and discolouration under the skin at impact sites...mainly my temple and cheekbone, and the burst vein under my eye is getting bigger. My actual eye still looks different to the other.

Upside? My eye is opening wider and some sensation has returned aound it, the mild paraysis fading. My jaw is hurting less and is less stiff, I can move it more side to side now and it clicks a bit. My stammer is getting better, though still have difficulty with verbal communication. Mental capacity is getting better, but still with odd forgettings and struggle to understand things I grasped easily before.

Not gonna lie...the idea of brain fluid leaking out, with possible blood too, freaks me out a bit.

Hi kitt, cheers.

Since that post the pain in my ear/jaw has got worse. Not helped by the fact I've picked up my son's cold....

blowing my nose, oh gosh no. Like strings of pain from ear to back of my throat and down jaw.

Has anyone else had this symtom? Any recs for pain relief/treatment?

Have you seen an ENT or better yet a neurotologist to check out your ear. Some of what you're describing might be related to a Perilymph Fistula in your ear, and if it's large enough it could have CSF leaking through it.

March 2013 - Thought that since most of my symptoms resolved I could start having fun again.
Went snowmobiling once (didn't hit my head) and concussion symptoms returned and got even worse than before.
June 2013 - accidentally bumped my head against a deck railing, and had a month-long setback.
November 2013 - drove to work after a big snowstorm and the roads were very rough, ended up having another setback.
2014 - Having setbacks after coughing/sneezing too much, or someone slapping me on the back, or any other significant jarring.
Feb 2014 - Started seeing Atlas Orthogonal chiro - most helpful doc so far.
June 2014 - Two months of physical/visual therapy - no noticeable improvement.
September 2014 - Diagnosed with Perilymph Fistula in right ear.
November 2014 - Fistula surgery (switched to left ear before the surgery after additional testing).
January 2016 - Quit work to "work" on figuring out PCS, so far it seems that eyes/vision issues are the most contributing factor, especially computer work.

Current symptoms are: inconsistent sleep patterns, headaches, vertigo/dizziness, anxiety/panic attacks, mental fog/problems with concentration, problems with computer screens.
