Don't blame yourself. You got a lot of bad advice from the school.

Have you heard of exotropia or wall-eye? The neurologist wants an MRI and to see a vision dr. And a neurologist appointment. I am very concerned. This dr said no tv and no computer where the other neurologist said watch tv. Confusing?

I have not heard of exortripia..

The normal treatment is no / limited screen for the first 6 months. This gives the brain time to rest and heal (my treatment plan). The rehab starts after that with a slow increase in activities (my treatment plan).

This the treatment plan that the doctors gave me, your doctors would give your daughter a plan for her current state.

They mention exotropia in this article I had saved.

Hi msnyder- sorry to hear about your daughter. As another newcomer to this scenario I now realize this needs much more awareness and less pressure to return to school athletics.

Found this from a link in Lara's post: http://www.strabismus.org/intermittent_exotropia.html

My vision is a mess as well -- at least your daughter has youth on her side...good luck with the appts & keep us posted.

Grace

Thank you Grace. It was very informative. Waiting for MRI results. I hope she gets better or answers soon. I am worried she will flunk freshman year. She is already behind two 9 weeks!

Try to focus on the big picture- I say that in hindsight of course- and not in the academic scenario- but ultimately if she ends up one year more mature (compared to her classmates) this whole experience could potentially benefit her in the long run. Best to take the time to heal instead of risking a lifetime of difficulty.

I know the athletic deprivation is a bummer, I keep telling my daughter (Sr. in HS & just had 2nd ACL surgery), that once she graduates all the HS drama will be history. Colleagues tell me the kids figure everything out at about 25 yo., so we still have a ways to go...

Take care,
Grace

Yesterday went to optamologist her vision is double and her eye is jumping up and out. Pupils are different sizes. Getting glasses with bifocals and prisms. What do you think?
