Default poll amongts pcs patients

I am trying to determine if there is any correlation between people suffering from prolonged post concussive symptoms and whether these same individuals exposed themselves to heavy resistance activity (such as heavy lifting) in the first few days after the initial head injury... especially when this activity provoked significant head pain.

If you wished you could create a more formal style of poll.

Exertion was definitely a factor in my PCS.
I felt fine the next day after my concussion and went for a light workout at the gym. Had extreme spinning vertigo for a couple nights after that and general fatigue.
It seemed to get better in about a week and I shoveled snow working up quite a sweat.
Again had vertigo for several nights after that and felt worse and it snowballed downhill after that for about 3 months.
At some point after 3 months I felt good enough to go snowmobiling where I got stuck several times and had to dig/pull the snowmobile, again, working up a sweat. All hell broke loose that night with symptoms worse than before and I haven't been able to fully recover since (2 years).

12/02/2012 - Light concussion at boxing practice. Ended up having PCS for about 3 months.
March 2013 - Thought that since most of my symptoms resolved I could start having fun again.
Went snowmobiling once (didn't hit my head) and concussion symptoms returned and got even worse than before.
June 2013 - accidentally bumped my head against a deck railing, and had a month-long setback.
November 2013 - drove to work after a big snowstorm and the roads were very rough, ended up having another setback.
2014 - Having setbacks after coughing/sneezing too much, or someone slapping me on the back, or any other significant jarring.
Feb 2014 - Started seeing Atlas Orthogonal chiro - most helpful doc so far.
June 2014 - Two months of physical/visual therapy - no noticeable improvement.
September 2014 - Diagnosed with Perilymph Fistula in right ear.
November 2014 - Fistula surgery (switched to left ear before the surgery after additional testing).
January 2016 - Quit work to "work" on figuring out PCS, so far it seems that eyes/vision issues are the most contributing factor, especially computer work.

Current symptoms are: inconsistent sleep patterns, headaches, vertigo/dizziness, anxiety/panic attacks, mental fog/problems with concentration, problems with computer screens.

I went to my office for about a week before I realized that something isn't right and I felt nausions and out of it. Definitely one can suspect but you can't be certain that you wouldn't have gotten it had you taken immediate rest.

This is not the case for me. I had multiple injuries and a broken sternum left me motionless.

I don't see how this poll can have any semblance of being informative. It does not include any responses from those who suffered a concussion that resolved spontaneously with or without heavy exercise or activity immediately following the injury.

Your quite correct Mark. Unfortunately, the group that concuss and improve quickly aren't usually on these forums. As such, they are not easily accessible to me. The ideal scenario would be to ask both groups the same question.

I'm simply trying to identify trends amongst the cohort of PCS sufferers.

The cohort is far too small and subjective. I suggest you look at the research done by Leden.

I don't remember but would not think I did any heavy lifting after my accident, however at plus 2 and one half years I still cannot exert myself at all with out increase in headache. I would say not more than 10 pounds, and if I carry any weight at all it will have the effect of slowing me down dramatically, I feel unwell and dizzy. I have learning to always have a wheeled device that I pull.

I also can not do any type of core strengthening activities without increased headache. It is interesting but these head increase immediately.

Has anyone have this go away? I asked because I was holding a 6 month baby and realize it tired me out really quickly. I am hoping if I have grandchildren I would be able to hold them.
