I have trouble with most pillows now. My issue is caused by neck problems that I got from the concussion.

I have trouble also. I had to put away the thick one I've been using for years, and now use a very thin and light sham pillow.

40 year old female In northern California. Married with a 3 yo daughter. First (and only) concussion in July 2013 Age 39.

Pre existing condition Ménière's disease, which causes dizziness, tinnitus, fatigue, fullness and pressure in the ears, and caused me to lose all my hearing as a young adult. I have cochlear implants now

Symptoms include headaches, neck pain, nausea, fatigue, and worsening of the menieres symptoms.

I've been using a buckwheat pillow for years now. I cannot recommend it enough. I notice a huge difference in neck pain in the morning when I use a normal pillow.

24 y/o female living in Portland, OR.

One concussion in 2012 from rugby. Loss consciousness and took around 5 months to recover completely.

Hit my head hard on a shelf on 12/7/14. Recovered by the end of February.

A branch fell on my hardhat at work on 10/7. Not sure if completely concussed but have been feeling "out of it". Definitely injured my upper cervical region and upper back. Out of work for the time being.

As far as Niacin goes- I've been stacking it. The first time I only took 100 and thought I was having some medical emergency my skin was so red and flushed!

But I slowly took more by taking them intermittently throughout the day and have had no more flushing. If I miss a couple of days however - then I do get the flushing as my body was not assimilated to it anymore.

I have found that it has made a significant impact on my mental clarity and mood! I have had days of feeling like myself again. I definitely notice if I miss it.

I will find the research page about how to take it- essentially if you get nauseas - it means that is your limit for the amount you can take so back it down.

I'm up or about 3000 of it and somedays up to 5000. Sounds crazy but it works!

I have to sleep with no pillow, or a very thin pillow, since the accident.

note: I think buckwheat pillows only work for people who sleep on their backs, but if you sleep on your back, they're pretty great.

I had the same problem for quite some time and still cannot lay flat without a pillow or rest my head on a chair without support. I also spent a small fortune on pillows.

My chiro who did my atlas orthogonal treatment suggested a pillow she was selling - it is like a ring and you rest your head in the middle and the outside of the pillow supports your neck.

Works for me and won't sleep without it.

No, you are certainly not!! I suffered severe whiplash in my car accident and spent weeks trying to find a pillow that supported my neck without agonizing pain. 1 year post-concussion caused by a high-speed MVA.
Driver to driver head-on. I was stationary and the other vehicle hit me traveling > 110 km/hr successfully breaking my sternum.
Diagnosed with chronic neuropathic pain, PTSD, somatic symptom disorder, depression, anxiety. I suffer from daily headaches, 24x7.
Meds: On prescription medication for neuropathic pain, breakthrough pain, anxiety, depression and sleep disorder.
OTC medications used to try and keep headaches in check: acetaminophen and ibuprofen.
Treatments: Physio (declined since May '14), RMT (declined since Feb '14), Psychiatry CBT (since Nov '13), Pain Clinic Nerve Blocks, Botox and Lidocaine Infusion (since May '14), SLP (since Aug '14), OT (since Sep '14).

Still going through pillow agony. Does anyone have a brand they recommend? I have found I am now down to a very flat pillow and a squishy pillow. I feel most comfortable laying flat on my back with no pillows at all but then get uncomfortable as the night goes on.

I wake up often to re-adjust trying to get the 'perfect' cushioning in order to fall asleep. It is quite the process!

I use a very floppy pillow. I sleep on my back. I roll the end of the pillow under so my right cheek lays against it. This prevents my head from rolling off to the side which ends up being uncomfortable after a while.

I had to swap to a pillow filled with feathers, because they are more suitable to fix your head in a certain position. It turned out to be a good solution to avoid the daily head jerks.
