well if you don't think taking a course of phosphatidylserine and acetyl l-carnitine is overkill i think i will give them a try
cognitively i am much improved from where i was even a few weeks ago (original accident was mid Sept) but i still have some way to go and I do have some work deadlines which i can't get out of looming so was looking to give myself a bit of an extra boost.
re my diet I try to eat organic as much as possible and i do eat meat a fair bit including red and indeed liver (which is massively nutrient packed as you may know) once or twice a week - i'm basically paleo so no wheat, potatoes or rice or products made from them and generally low carbs apart from those in the veg i eat, quinoa flakes for breakfast and sometimes tarot and sweet potatoes.
I swear by decaf green and Rooibos tea too

I always wonder why people will take the expensive specialized supplements without trying the basic vitamins and supplements first. The B vitamins help the acetylcholine system function in a natural way. Why bypass the brain's system if it can be avoided ?

B-12 levels are considered normal at 3-400 to 960 pgms/mL. Many find they need to be at the high end of the range. I shoot at maintaining 1000 pgms/mL

thanks Mark.
However, not trying to bypass anything - put it down to still learning the "brain nutritional ropes"
Am taking Vit b-50 complex too - i have solgar vit b12 sublinguals as a separate too but not taking at mo cos b-50 looks sufficient I feel given i have a healthy diet.
but happy to be wrong on this if you think i should take it too?

There is really a low amount of B12 in B-complex mixtures.

Therapeutic doses only occur separately. Should be taken on an empty stomach and start at 1000mcg and may be taken up to 5,000mcg daily. A very small amount is absorbed from those doses, or any doses, hence the seemingly high milligram content.
Methylcobalamin is available now at Sam's club, Costco and Walgreen's and online. It is very inexpensive per tablet.

rickSA,

Look at your B-12 amount in the B-50 complex. It should show it has 50mcgs, that is micrograms. That is one-thousandth of a milligram. Plus, it is probably cyanocobalamin. A therapeutic dose of B-12 for a struggling brain starts at 400 and goes up to 2500 to 5000 mcgs. I have always stated that additional B-12 should be taken, even if a B-50 Complex is taken.

Are there pills containing choline? (Like there are pills with Omega 3 or vitamins)
I think it is safe to consider nicotine. Articles I have seen indicate pure nicotine has a low risk of addiction. It is when it is combined with the other chemicals in tobacco that problems arise.
