Default New Member Little Advice PCS

Hi. After finding this forum very helpful when I was first diagnosed with PCS and reading it a lot during my low times I have now decided to ask for a little advice.
Here is a quick rundown of my story.....
On August 15 2014 I was involved in a high speed motorcycle racing accident. I still have no recollection of the crash I was knocked out for a good few minutes just coming around as I was being put into the ambulance. I was taken to hospital where I had a CT scan of my head which came back all clear. The following few days I was just wiped out, I spent the next few days in my bed. When I did eventually try to get up I could not stand for long periods and had real bad headaches. Couple of days later my dad took me back to hospital where they gave me yet another CT scan which again came back clear but with a lot of swelling on the brain !! And here is where I was told about PCS.... I suffered with headaches and dizziness up until about November of last year when eventually they stopped and I felt Normal. But about a week ago the headaches and dizziness have returned !! Is this normal for it to just return ? I'm obviously a little concerned that these symptoms have come back without anything to trigger them. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Mac41
Some of my symptoms have taken a back seat for a couple of months, and then returned. It is surprising for sure, when you think your done w/ an episode and it comes back again. Im interested in hearing more replies to your thread from others.
Sorry about your accident and condition. Welcome to the site.

I just joined today (too) and yours is the most recent post , and my first time responding.
I ,like you, have gathered information and reassurance here before deciding to join. Im amazed at how articulate some writers.,.. I hesitated to contribute because it is difficult to compose sentences, come up w/ the words, ect. Takes a long time. Good luck to you.

Hi, are you sure nothing has triggered your relapse, stress, alcohol, too much exercise might do it. I would take it easy and have plenty of rest, both physical and mental for a while to recover. PCS recovery isn't linear, it can be two steps forward and one back.

Mac41,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry to hear of your struggles.

It is not uncommon for concussion symptoms to return without any known cause. The recovering brain is very sensitive to a wide variety of triggers. Most relate to over-stimulation or too much activity.

It is not uncommon for one to think they are doing better and/or recovered and attempt to try some normal activities. Then, a day later, the world comes falling down.

Many here have experienced this situation.

My best to you.

j.rose,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

You would be surprised how much editing some of us do before hitting the "Submit Reply" button. I live with spell check. Grammar check would help if I had it.

Please feel free to introduce yourself and tell us about your struggles and how we can help.

My best to you both.

Mac,

I took a real downturn at the 6 month point when new symptoms arrived of sleep and anxiety/ panic issues. I thought I had this thing whooped then, "BAM"

I am doing better now with all three symptoms but it is still a challenge.

Bud

Thanks all for your replies. I was just in the thinking that I was over this but to be hit again by these symptoms after months of feeling fine just had me worrying about it all. Im just going to try and nurse my way through it and hope there is light at the end of the tunnel.....
