Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone experiences grinding sounds in their neck, is it something of major concern, makes my muscles tight and sore but thought it was normal. Maybe it is. I am getting it worked on but that seems to stay the same. Thanks!

I have grinding at C-1 and C-2. They do not have cartilage disks separating them. I don't feel any discomfort just lots of noise when I turn my head.

Is it a crunchy sound .kind of like rice crsipies cereal?
If so could be muscle tightness/spasms.. i had those sounds and after the muscles got relaxed they went away , along with the whooshing /bruit /pulse sounds. They come back a bit if it overdo and neck muscles get tight again..

Its sounds like tissue if that makes any sense and the whooshing pulse like sound for me just seems to come when I tilt my head one way, I am trying to avoid leaning one way but it seems like my body is trying to keep my head leaned one way. I just wasnt sure if there was much to be concerned about. It does get sore after alot of movement at rehab etc

I just visited a neurologist for the first time since my MVA. He reviewed mymCT scan very thoroughly. I too have a kind of crunchy sound when I rotate my neck. Mine preceded the head injury, though. He said my facets have got ten larger probably due to degenerative changes, maybe arthritic changes. He said as long as it isn't painful, nothing to do about it.mit does limit the ROM in one direction, but I don't notice that. I Only notice the sound.
