Thank you everyone for sharing, and for your support! I have seen some great improvements over the past couple weeks, along with some parts where I get very anxious.
Working out and lifting weights has been helping me cope with it a little bit. I'm fairly certain that it is all in my head, but it is hard to get rid of. I have been going to a BioFeedback Therapist who just got back from a convention, and told me that she heard that many people who suffer from anxiety after long concussions, suffer because for the longest time, they associated those feelings of anxiety as being caused by the concussion. Again, thank you all for the support, and best of luck to you all! |
Anxiety following PCS
Hello everyone,
I posted about a month ago about my anxiety after my Post Concussion Syndrome has healed. As I mentioned, all physical symptoms (dizziness, blurry vision, memory, and all vestibular disfunctioning) have healed. My doctor cleared me to play lacrosse again, and I finished out the last month of the season. These past two month have had many highs and lows, which have been caused by my anxiety. I went to a bio feedback specialist, and it helped me a good amount, however my anxiety still bothers me everyday. I feel foggy, worried all the time, am constantly monitoring myself, and asking myself "how am I feeling?" In addition, I often question whether things are real or not, and the purpose of everything. Since the anxiety has continued this long, my parents and I agreed it was time to look into psychiatric medicine. I went a to well regarded Psychiatrist, and he talked everything through with me, and diagnosed me with some mild depression and moderate anxiety (which I never had problems with before the 7 month concussion). The doctor prescribed me Zoloft, an anti depressant. I am posting on here to see if anyone is familiar with Zoloft. I know it does not work for everyone, but this is the first medication I am going to try, so we'll see if it works for me. I am ready to get passed this constant worrying, stress, and foggy headedness. Please let me know if your experiences with Zoloft. Thanks! |
