Since my concussion I experience a very unpleasant feeling in my head when stress hormones where put out. It's almost like a cutting or biting feeling in my head that occurs. I feel bad for the next hours or even days. And I'm talking about short stressful events, like a 10 min arguement, not a whole day full of stress. Yesterday I had such an arguement, full of anger and today my head feels completely different.
How long will this last? What is the cause for this? Do stress hormones even destroy something in the brain? |

Well stress releases cortisol which is not good for the brain if it's prolonged. I would try and avoid confrontational situations. Cortisol also suppresses serotonin so you will feel crappy too. Actually I would avoid sugar as that feeds cortisol and stresses the brain via the blood.

Ok, so the problem is more the chronic stress and not short intense anger/excitement or is both the same bad?
I try to avoid any confrontation, but sometimes you just have them. The short burst of hormones creates a real bad feeling in my head, like something up there is going to be destroyed. I hope it is not that severe? I do not have long lasting stress (chronic stress). I've changed my whole lifestyle, try to stay always calm and keep stress levels generally low. As a consequence, I started to do everything in slow motion. This changes the life in a way that the standard (hectic) everyday-life is no more possible. It is ok for the noment but certainly no long term solution. But again, my current problem is just the short but intense stress. Last edited by Chris2828; 04-06-2015 at 03:26 AM. |
