Hi,
Still suffering headaches now 9 months post injury. Some browsing brought me to the idea of Increased Intercranial Pressure - is it at all possible that this could be the cause of my headaches? I'm really at a loss at this point. Headaches are and have been my primary symptom now for almost a year. |

Many of us have chronic head aches long after our injuries. IICP in its risky form is not likely an issue. Doctors are rarely concerned except to treat for patient comfort. Even head ache specialists have a hard time pointing to a cause of chronic head aches in many patients.
What has your doctor said ? |

Is your neck sore or tight & achy too , or only headaches?
If neck is sore , you could have muscle tension and perhaps trigger points too. trigger points can cause referred pain and depending on where they are they can cause headaches. Here is a interactive chart - http://www.pressurepointer.com/pain_reference_chart.htm

Care to explain the symptoms of your headaches? The feeling of them or symptoms that happen during them? Anything particular causing them? Using anything to treat them?
For example I get migraines, forget the exact name I can look it up later and cluster headaches. Luckily the clusters are in remission. Its common with pcs it seems to have long lasting headaches. Take care. |

I've seen two concussion specialists, one of which is a neurosurgeon whose specialty is in the field of brain injury. She didn't seem overtly concerned about my condition, and suggested starting to incorporate light exercise (light weights and swimming). The problem is I find exercise often increases my headaches - I get a pulsing and throbbing sensation, which often takes a day or so to resolve back to baseline. The second concussion specialist led me to a vision specialist. Apparently I have issues with binocular vision (BV), convergence insufficiency, amblyopia (right eye) and a couple other issues. I'm currently in treatment for these issues. Quote:

I wouldn't say anything causes them in particular. They're just always there. Using anything as in medication? No. I've been treated for whiplash and subtle neck injury post injury. |

Clandestine,
Sounds a lot like what I am dealing with. I have been dealing witht he HA's going on 4 yrs now and have been to numerous neurologist etc.... told I have migraines triggered by head injury but aside from meds they seem not to know of any treatments or much as to my this happens. My HA's are triggered by weather changes, stress plays a part I think and neck related problems. I feel completely drained afterwards and get some relief from migraine rescue meds but they are $$$$. Exercise increases my chance and I beleive it has something to do with blood flow\pressure issues, I hope things improve for you and me but I am giving up hope at this point

That is extremely unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear you've gone so long without relief. Do you have any other symptoms besides headaches? Your signature mentions cognitive deficits.
Do you work? How have you managed working and headaches? Also, what treatments have you tried so far? Thanks. Quote:
