So I FINALLY found a doc who knows what he is doing and actually read my records and he said my best bet at recovering to become a "fully participating member of the public" again was with a holistic approach through a good multi-faceted brain injury program.
Little did I know as I have struggled for the past few months that we have some supposedly really great programs here in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, area. So this is very geographically specific but can anyone with any knowledge on or experience with either of the following two places please share that with me as I try to decide where to get treatment: Pate Rehab or The Centre for Neuro Skills |

I think the Centre of Neuro Skills has been mentioned before but I don't remember anybody who has been through their program.
If you seek treatment from either one, please be aware than many neuro rehab centers consider their patients' treatment to be a success when they have achieved the functionality that many with PCS start with. That was the case at one of our local neuro rehab facilities. I hope you find the treatments helpful. At the worst, you will gain a greater understanding of your own condition and how you can minimize your symptoms. And, you may also see great improvement. You might also want to check out Dr. Jonathan E. Walker, MD in Dallas. He has been successful with some here on NT. |

Pate Rehab seems to be the local favorite of everyone Inhave spoken to around here and sounds like they have a wonderful program. In addition to the services they provide the brain injured person, they also provide one-on-one and group counseling to families. They also provide free transportation.
Frankly what interests me most is their vocational simulation programs in the latter stages of rehab. The lady that spoke with my wife today said they once even had a surgeon go through their facility and they did mock surgeries to prepare him to go back to work. I just wonder who volunteered to be the patient! |

They probably used a mock puppet to do the mock surgeries. LOL
I would not want to be the first live surgical patient. Hopefully, they did mock surgeries on cadavers. Med students and surgeons do this frequently to hone their skills. |
