The debris in the morning is probably in the eye area, and the tears loosen it and then suspend it to "clean" the eye as tears do.
My mom has eye issues w/ no natural tears of her own so she needs eye drops often and occasional debris removal from eye dr. My concern was that this was posted by OP - a sudden onset of so many- worth a check up.. [I noticed a huge amount of floaters in my vision. It is scary, I've never had so many floaters]

Red or brown, or black spots, are blood. Blood will accompany a retinal detachment. It will also come from strokes in the retina (I had one when I was 50.... bleeds into the retina will bleed some into the vitreous humor. I did not have floaters with my stroke, just a huge purple (in daylight) blind spot, and hole in my night vision. I had an angiogram, which showed the vein which burst.
It cleared up on its own, and I have not had another. But I do watch my blood pressure carefully now.(and take a BP med). Elevated blood pressure really affects the eyes. So that Ritalin should be monitored. If ProAgonist had thick mucus tears upon awakening that would be something else entirely. But we can't know for certain on the internet. He needs an exam.

I just saw this and although I have NOT had a concussion what I do for my eye health could perhaps support almost everyone. About 20 yrs ago I came up with a lot of floaters, I was about 60, and so for the last at least 10 yrs I've been actively supporting my eyes. The floaters are about history, I have no eye diseases and no cataracts either. I believe the antioxidants I take daily are keeping my eyes very healthy. I'm 81 now.
What I take daily: Grape Seed Extract Vit C Lutein with or without Bilberry...Mostly 20mg Lutein daily And I use Cineraria Maritma homeopathic drops daily And Simalsan for Dry Eyes just about daily. It is truly amazing to have such healthy eyes...and the floaters just about GONE. And I'm diligent about wearing sunglasses when outdoors. Do your research. |

Most people who have suffered a concussion will notice floaters because their brain visual filter is not able to ignore them. Once you start noticing them, the brain starts looking for them. They have almost always been there and your brain just ignored them. Now, it can't ignore them.
btw, ProAgonist has not been around in over 4 years.
