Default Need Answers Please

My Daughter in Law totaled her car about 3 mths ago, hitting a car (16 yr old talking on phone made left turn on red) she had grandson 2 in car seat in the back seat and her friend passenger. All went to Hospital w what seemed mild injury. She diagnosed mild concussion, passenger broken wrist and baby fine. She was normal self ,nothing seemed different. About 1 mth later she is pulled over driving wrong side of road. They took her to jail suspecting she on illegal drugs. Test are negative, now they think she is Mentally ill she talking bazaar , she is not aware she has a child which was in daycare at the time and was left there till after thy closed. She was excellent mother and this was not the girl i saw night before???
Since that incident she has lived in Mental Institutions, her parents have custody of her son and our whole family are cut off (my son is baby's biological father. She contacts my son and I daily. She is paranoid , she sounds normal about 1/4 of the time ,the rest of the time she is talking stuff not there, different reality's, and she cries asking me what's wrong w her? She tells big stories not true. she is delusional ALOT!!! Her family wont reveal anything scared my son wants to take baby. They cant handle her condition and mental wards are easier to put her in then face the problem. Is this what others experience? She told me tonight for example that her son(my grandson)is the son of God and comes to tell messages....My heart is broken ,I've just started reading the post but can anyone help me understand her thinking? Thank You God Bless our people on the board for helping people new to this challenge.
