Default PCS & TBI 6 mos later

My husband had a motorcycle accident back in January of this year.
He seemed to be doing good, went back to work March 13th, and has been working ever since.
However, He now seems to have developed a short temper and is quick to anger where as he never was before, it use to take alot to fire him up, now it seems as if anything will set him off, for instance I was trying to talk to him about finances last week and telling him via text what bills were due, I told him and told him and he seemed ok with it, when I mentioned I needed some money to pick up a few things for our home he absolutely flipped, told me he is not going to give me any money and that if I keep up asking for any that I better start looking for somewhere else to live because he's not going to support me anymore.

This personality change has only started the last 2-3 of months, and it seems to be directed at me only. he was never like this before.

Is a personality change like this normal?

Personality changes can be pervasive for some people. There can be progressive changes and changes as the person gets frustrated with their struggles. If you can, it would be worth discussing this with a doctor.

It sounds like he is not very interested in participating in his own recovery needs and concerns. Finding a way past this roadblock will be important. Your state or county may have a mental health department that you can contact to find out if there are any resources available. This is a medical issue that manifests as a mental health issue.

There are two common personality changes that can be problematic. Rigidity of thought is where his mind gets stuck on a certain perspective and struggles to adjust to conflicting information. Outbursts is the other. It can result in loss of employment, criminal offenses and other troubles. Both make interpersonal relationships difficult.

Another issue is a change in the ability to recognize social cues and have empathy and understanding. Some lose the ability to recognize facial expressions.

The TBI Survival Guide has a lot of information about this. www.tbiguide.com

Check out the links at the bottom of the Vitamins sticky at the top. There are other online resources.

My best to you.
