Default caffeine and brain sensitivity

Hello,

I was knocked out cold skiing nearly a year ago, and since my brain has been extremely sensitive. Jolts from potholes and running would give me headaches and I would simultaneously experience a dizzy spell and some fatigue.

Im aware that a lot of you suffer from this sensitivity, but anyway, point is, when I have fairly strong coffee, my sensitivity would decrease significantly for a couple hours after or however long the caffeine is present in my body. Any one else experience this? It feels great, like I'm my pre-injury self.

Any one know the mechanism behind this? Increased CS Fluid? More blood flow to brain? And are there alternatives to high caffeine intake? I think if I were to go a full day "sensitivity free", I would have to drink an unhealthy amount of coffee.

Good question.

Maybe it's just the stimulant effect making your feel better.
I wonder if it affects/increases the uptake of dopamine temporarily, similar to something like Ritalin. keyword being temporarily.

One of the pharmacological effects of caffeine is a constriction of blood vessels in the brain. This may have an effect.
