Thanks for your concern. Deeply appreciated. I should have given a more detailed explanation. I don't have to use clonazepam daily for myoclonus, although I do have some periods when I do need to use it day and night, as I had written in my post. Clonazepam is the best choice for me when the myoclonus gets severe, considering my tolerances (or lack thereof) for medications and other meds being used for other medical issues. I have found the Depakote has calmed the myoclonus quite a bit. It's less frequent and less intense. I guess this is similar to your response to gabapentin? Thanks again, Mark. DejaVu |

I had this really bad the first year after the injury. I noticed that it was the worst when I was trying to sleep on my back. Right as I'm about to fall asleep my neck would jerk my head from one side to the other. A few times I had this "exorcist" moment where my head turned fully from left to right involuntarily. Trying to fall asleep on my side is better as usually only a limb would jerk, either a leg or an arm, sometimes waking me up.
The jerking seemed to diminish in the recent months to where I didn't have it anymore, but then started again after my anxiety/panic attacks returned.

12/02/2012 - Light concussion at boxing practice. Ended up having PCS for about 3 months. March 2013 - Thought that since most of my symptoms resolved I could start having fun again. Went snowmobiling once (didn't hit my head) and concussion symptoms returned and got even worse than before. June 2013 - accidentally bumped my head against a deck railing, and had a month-long setback. November 2013 - drove to work after a big snowstorm and the roads were very rough, ended up having another setback. 2014 - Having setbacks after coughing/sneezing too much, or someone slapping me on the back, or any other significant jarring. Feb 2014 - Started seeing Atlas Orthogonal chiro - most helpful doc so far. June 2014 - Two months of physical/visual therapy - no noticeable improvement. September 2014 - Diagnosed with Perilymph Fistula in right ear. November 2014 - Fistula surgery (switched to left ear before the surgery after additional testing). January 2016 - Quit work to "work" on figuring out PCS, so far it seems that eyes/vision issues are the most contributing factor, especially computer work. Current symptoms are: inconsistent sleep patterns, headaches, vertigo/dizziness, anxiety/panic attacks, mental fog/problems with concentration, problems with computer screens. |

I had a scary experience with this last night. I do have the occasional jerks but last night my whole upper body jumped up as I was drifting into sleep. I had never had an intense one like that before.
