Galaxy,
that is very good news to me because i make medicine here at home. i grow alot of herbs. ive studied the info for years but this year is the first year ive grown all the herbs. im growing feverfew and fennel in this. feverfew does headaches and the fennel is good for dizziness. i honestly do not want to go back to any drs at this point. im on state insurance and they very much treat you like a number. the neuro didnt pay attention to a dam thing i said. then gave me generic topomax while im on antivert after I TOLD him i was on antivert. there is a huge major contradiction with the two meds that causes heat stroke when being vigorous in the heat. i told the dr i work on a farm and its 100* outside and he still perscribed this topomax to go with my antivert. it took a week just to find that neuro bc no one in my area is taking new patients on my insurance. i went through calling 48 drs while in the first week of my accident. it was very stressfull as i wasnt talking well at all at first. i still have issues speaking which is ironic since ill be on the phone 8 hours a day soon taking calls from my home for Apple. im just glad i found work from home. but i cant drive so i couldnt do my labor job now i have to do a thinking job. im having problems thinking lol so see the irony. bottom line i dont have access to a good dr until fall when the other offices open up to take more new patients

Mark,
I live in tennessee. im not so sure about letting someone mess with my neck. i can imagine the relief but i can also imagine the pain lol. More than anything i came to this chat hopping to find another female who was assaulted and had this happen bc i want to talk to someone further in their recovery who very likely felt every emotion i am from both the assault (who was by a love one) and the emotions that go along with the injury too. I feel like one of the problems with my neck is sleeping. idk maybe if i was propped up and not flat that may help. i just woke up 30 minutes ago and today was as bad as the first week with my neck. i woke up with my neck in alot of pain and that pain is shooting up my skull on that side to the front.

I understand the neck issue. I have to sleep on my back with my head supported so my head stays straight. There are chiro specialists who use very gentle methods if you can find one. A Physical Therapist may also be able to do some gentle traction and mobilization. Avoid range of motion exercises until you get some healing.

Early on in my injury, I did some of my best sleeping in a recliner chair with a pillow properly supporting the sides of my head.

I asked about your care because I was concerned that you needed someone to help you process what happened to you. PTSD and such make concussions much worse. A women's shelter may have a referral for you.

Here are two state resources:
http://www.treasury.state.tn.us/injury/
http://www.aardvarc.org/dv/states/tndv.shtml
They may be able to help you find and pay for the care you need.

I'm glad you are reaching out here but I hope you are also looking for local support.

My best to you.

i was raped when i was 18 and had a break down while with my first husband who was a wife beater. they forced me to go to rape therapy. i have no interest in that. it didnt help me then. i do not like therapists. or counslers. ive had several encounters in my young life with both. i find them arrogant. maybe tho i just havent found a good one. but see thats why im trying to connect with someone whose been through the same things i have been. i also have no interest in presuing legal action. think im stupid all day long but thats the way it is

My concern is that someone help you with coping with the thought struggles. Blaming and that BS is not the point. I have suffered 2 traumas that left me with PTSD symptoms. Nobody was going to twist my attitude about the assaulter. They wanted to. I just needed to move forward and deal with the current symptoms. Getting help sorting them out can be worthwhile. Knowing that the symptoms are real and due to the trauma and not me going nuts is helpful. A counselor/therapist who understands Post Concussion Syndrome and can help you understand the symptoms.

Maybe a referral to a NeuroPsychologist would help. They look at how the brain has been injured and try to help you with recovery plans. Sort of non-medical brain doctors. They can refer to occupational therapists, vestibular therapists, speech therapists, etc.

The Victims of Violence link is to help you access financial resources to use toward care and unpaid bills.

My best to you.
