Default types of headaches

Question:

What kinds of headaches do you all experience? What do you do to relieve them?

I usually get one of two kinds of headaches.

I get vasospam headaches. These are usually in my right temple and feel like a knife stabbing my temple. They are due to the muscles that wrap around blood vessels that get stuck in a spasm. They can stop me in my tracks. They tend to only last a minute or so but also appear in clusters. I'll have them frequently for a week or two then not at all for a month. Nothing relieves the pain. i just have to wait them out.

I also get what I call Mud headaches. My head has a dull ache and feels like it is packed with mud and my thought processes are slowed like they are stuck in the mud. So, I call them Mud headaches. They often follow a poor night's sleep. Sometimes, a simple glass of water helps. Other times, I take ibuprofen, with a glass of water. They could be due to a bit of dehydration.

Ah I wish I had clinical names, but marks description of mud headaches sounds pretty common for me at the end of a long day, I just cant do anymore or think anymore.

I also learned about neck/scalp headaches those are the ones where it just hurts and you dont know why, these confused me as everyone kept telling me about pacing, slow down, take your time. Now that my PT and Dr have managed those I no longer always wake up with headaches, so pacing is a real thing for me finally.

Lastly, I got mood headaches, call it what you want, my psych said depression caused it and I can see it now, it was just a heavy frustrated all around headache. It came from overthinking from frustration from missing the things I loved. But as many many people have said on here I had to let it all go and go with the flow for those to truly subside. If someone suggests you may suffer from it, even if you dont believe it, give their mindfulness meditation yoga or whatever a try, really have nothing to lose!

Ah headaches... good times.

I have what I've been told is a tension headache. It's a bilateral global throb/ache that never really ceases. If I experience a triggering event, that Mud Headache Mark described is spot on... feels like I've dropped 30 IQ points (I didn't have that many to start with!!).

If I am recovering from a triggering event (i.e. over-stimulation), I get unilateral migraines that typically occur in either temple or my forehead, though I get them on the top of my head as well. These are show-stoppers, and require Tylenol 3s. Any activity all during this period is very difficult. It seems like the last few months I've been too active and have these everyday.

In thinking about it, I don't remember what it's like to not have a headache.

My head gets pressurized and very heavy. I think due to intracranial pressure.
My doctor says this is a type of headache but there is no pain, just a feeling of intense heaviness.

Well, I went to the physiatrist today. Among other things I have to be evaluated by: Speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, neruopsychiatry, mental health therapy, and I can't remember some more.

I am started on topomax for the headaches. the pharmacy wouldn't fill the script today so I have to wait. What's another day? I've waited 8 months.

I have to go back to the doc in 3 weeks. Then will probably be started on an ADHD med for my deficit in attention. It was so much to process. Still am. I can't remember things. I just want to be like I used to be. you know?

Hopefully some of these things work for you.
