Default Pressure in head after lifting - anyone tried this?

Hello everybody,

In november last year I hit a doorframe and suffered with severe pressure in my head several months afterwards (had to go on medical leave). But it almost went away except for a small pressure that is constant, but dont bother me that much.

2 days ago I helped my father in law raising a flagpole - it was heavy but nothing I normally wouldnt be able to handle. Half an hour after we finished I noticed an increase in headpressure (pressure at my temples, back of head etc.) and it has been there since then. My head also feels heavy and I get this uncomfortable feeling when talking to people. I fear it is getting worse.

Have any of you tried this? Is it a new injury or? It is really annoying and depressing. If you have tried it, how long before it disappeared? Did you use any meds or therapy?

Default CSF leak

After I have cruised around on Neurotalk I get worried, that it is some kind of CSF leak or hightened intracranial pressure in my head.

Any thoughts are welcome.

For many people with PCS, lifting something heavy or making any kind of straining move causes them to tense up their neck muscles. This can cause a change in blood flow to the head. This is not uncommon with people who lift weights for exercise. It can also be due to an increase in adrenaline.

Do you have a chance to check your blood pressure ?

As Mark points out, many of us experience this. Just yesterday I was doing a new set of stretches that involve laying flat on the floor. Shortly after starting these, the pressure in my head built to the point of discomfort.

I also get this on days when over-stimulation occurs to the point where it actually hurts to talk to someone. However, it's not as bad as in my early days following my concussion when I literally could not open any jar due to the pressure experienced during the exertion... nothing quite as emasculating to a man then having to ask his wife to open every jar for you! Good times.

I just bought a blood pressure minitor - I will receive it tomorrow.

I was lifting my hands up in the air and bent my head backwards when we raised the flagpole - so probably my neck has been strained. But it is three days ago, and I only feel I am getting worse (headache, pressure, cognitive decline).

Is it possible, that I made a new injury, or do you think I just have to be patient?

PCS/whiplash is a weird thing!!!

I think Mark is on to something there with the neck muscles, I experience head pressure or did, when working out I would experience increased pressure in my head and my ears would feel full. Like constantly needing to pop, and now it only happens when I really over do it in the gym, if you can get the neck to relax I wouldnt be surprised if it helps at the very least

I would be interested to hear about the blood pressure readings if you post back.

I know that intercranial pressure can cause some odd things to happen, increased blood pressure with lowered pulse and resps, I noticed in the months after my head injury my bp was higher than normal, not hugely but enough to make you think, and now it has returned to its normal low ish reading.
