Default My Eight Year Journey to Zero

As I write this post, I am well! And I have been well for a few months!! While I realize that I will have limitations from PCS for the rest of my life, I have finally come to the place of feeling great virtually all the time! Now, I am NOT going to go out and play volleyball or go 4-wheeling, but am perfectly content to just live a quiet life, and to feel WELL!

Those of you who have read my previous posts know how I tracked my symptoms, and found a correlation with the weather. I lived in WI for the first 5 years of PCS, and it was really rough with an average monthly score of 180 “points” of symptoms. We moved to central WA three years ago, where I averaged around 70 points per month. We spent the last three winters in AZ, and I think that my score was around 20 points per month. When we went back to WA in the spring, my symptoms would immediately surge back to WA levels.

By crunching weather data from hundreds of stations around the US, I developed a map of where barometric pressure changes were greatest and smallest. (I will attach it again with a few barometric charts.) It appeared that San Diego was one of the best places to be, and so last spring we stayed in San Diego area for about 6 weeks to try it out. It was amazing with very few symptoms!

It was very hard, but we sold our farm in WI, and our farm in WA, and moved the family down to the San Diego area in Sept. The results so far have been worth all the effort and expense to move again. In October, I had my first ZERO score for a whole month! No headaches, no head pressure, no dizziness, no fatigue, no slurred speech, no chills & hot flashes, no visual disturbances, no phonophobia, no insomnia, no problems! The Zeros started the day we got here, and have continued ever since. I did have a headache in late Sept, and one in early Nov that corresponded to an unusual weather front moving through, but it is so bearable, because it is so infrequent.

I have no doubt that if I went back to WI or WA my symptoms would come back within a few days. We have traveled from CA to WA and WA to CA many times now, and the symptoms either go away or come back within a day or two. I have had a few minor bumps down here on the chin or shoulder, which normally would have set me back for a few days. I even tripped and fell on all fours the other day, and it did not seem to affect me, but I am sure that a larger bump would still cause symptoms. Let's hope that I can avoid it.

I was always grateful for the good days in the past eight years, but then a new wave of poor health would come along again. I even had a whole week here and there of good health in the summers, but then the months of ill health that would follow, would take me down again. Now, that I am experiencing good health for several months in a row, it is like the fabric and weave of life is coming together again, instead of being so up and down and full of holes.

Sadly, I know that this method of healing will not work for everyone. There are those who suffer for other reasons than weather, or who are not in a position to make a move. My sympathies are with you and your family, but I want to encourage you to never give up! This life is transient, and none of us are getting off of this earth alive. In a short time, God's children will enjoy perfect health forever in heaven.

This week we are having a family Thanksgiving unlike any other. My brave wife has a husband again, and my 5 children have a Daddy back. We want to thank God, our family, our friends, and our Neurotalk friends for all the help and support over the years! It has been a long journey, and we are grateful that it seems the worst of the storms are behind us.

Default Amazing resiliency!

You sir are a good strong human being that deserves all that you can get. Enjoy your new life. Good for staying strong and figuring out the answer to your problems even if it took 8 years.
