Hi. This is my first post. Suffered serious concussion when I feel as I was having stroke 11 months ago. Worst symptoms that remain are extremely painful headaches and extreme exhaustion. Headaches are sometimes accompanied by dizziness and nausea and vomiting. Have tried multiple modalities. While it use to be constant and is now less than constant, it is frequent. Anybody going through same type of symptoms. Have you found relief? What's worked for you? Many thanks in advance.

Beach123,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. The symptoms you are having are common to PCS. They are often made worse by triggers like too much activity or over-stimulation. Headaches can be caused by upper neck issues that have gone untreated. It would help if we knew more about your injury and daily activities. What medical care have you received ? What modalities have you tried ? |

The symptoms you experience are frequent among people who have sustained concussions, along with increase irritability, difficulty concentrating, and personality changes.
You need to talk with your doctor about these symptoms as there can be other causes as well. Difficult to know though without a more detailed history. Hope that you feel better. |

I'm just now getting better after having those symptoms. Finding the right migraine medicine have made a huge difference. For me the fifth medicine seems to work (at that point I had given up on it).
Another thing is finding out what triggers your headaches and stop doing those things. You probably need to ask your family and friends for help, since it's hard to think straight while exhausted. My boyfriend have pointed out several really obvious triggers that I had no idea where that bad. You also need to realize that many things aren't as important as you think. I ended up with daily migraines partly because of some bad priorities in the start. That doesn't make it your own fault, but just means that you have to be careful. Your health should have priority over studies/work, the feeling that you have to contribute and be social, buying Christmas presents, etc. Hope you feel better soon! |
