CatOhio,
Don't be surprised if a neuro-ophthalmologist says your eyes are fine. I had an ophthalmologist from workers comp recommend that I be seen by a neuro-ophthalmologist during my IME. He even went so far as to get on the phone himself to call & was told that office didn't accept WC. I am now recommending that all my family and friends use this doctor & can't believe Workers Comp sent me to someone who truly knows there stuff!! I found a neuro-ophthalmologist with a decent reputation that did accept WC, only he,for some unfathomable reason to me and the vestibular therapist & neuro-optician I see, did not deal or recognize the binocular & perceptual issues I continue to have! Apparently, there are 2 schools of thought in the worlds of ophthalmologists & opticians- some believe that our issues are real, can be improved with therapy & prism glasses, some believe only prism glasses are needed, and some with MD degrees only are interested in the "health" of the eyes and don't give a hoot that since your injury things appear different to you. Good luck! Hope you find an intelligent, caring doctor that truly understands PCS! I'm still going for vision therapy, have had my prism lenses changed 3x as my eyes slowly& steadily improve. Hello SMSotr,
You are right. I saw the Neuro Ophthalmologist and everything checked out almost perfect. Needless to say, I started crying in his office out of frustration. At least he did show some sympathy. He was the first one out of six. Last night I saw a behavioral optometrist from the Nora site and she was awesome. She took me through all these vision rehab tests and now has me set up for vision therapy. Now I am still searching for a medical doctor who specializes in PCS. I was able to locate one in the Cincinnati area, but her first opening is not until May. |

Cat,
Mark found a Nora doc for me in my area....the whole office is very patient, understanding and familiar with head injury behavior. Been a great experience thus far and I am no longer getting really bad headaches after the appts. Bud |
