Does anyone have any experience with functional neurology?
Any opinions/advice? It seems promising for my particular set of symptoms (sensory problems - sensitivity to light and sound, processing conversation) The organization I talked to seemed modern and well informed. |

Functional Neurology usually refers to chiropractors who have been trained by the Carrick Institute. Some have found it to be helpful. Others have found it to be a big waste of money. It is difficult to get insurance to cover the costs.
It appears to be a "You gotta try it to see if it helps" situation. btw, Not all Carrick trained chiros follow the Carrick protocols. Some pick and choose and integrate the concepts into their own ideas.

Mark summed it up well.
I went to one and dropped about 3 grand for nothing. I'd look into vestibular, vision, syntonic phototherapy, and upper cervical chiropractic therapies first. I'll message you some of the exercises I did there if you'd like. |

So I guess I'm curious of people's experiences with Carrick trained practitioners or the Carrick brain centers.

Stay away. They basically tried to cram a month work of vision therapy in 1 week and doing weird stuff like trying to shock my tongue. My scam radar was going off every day I was there but I was desperate to try it and OMG Crosby got back on the ice.

Scam (mostly).
Hope, Hype or Shaky Science? Experts Fault $2.2 Million Veterans Study Involving Spinning Chair | NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth The gyroscope does seem to help people with vestibular issues, though a study would be needed to see whether it is more or less effective then standard vestibular therapy. Apparently the study mentioned in the above article had no control group?!?! |
