Default First Post- 7 months in - Sensitivity to movement

Hello guys, great to join the community, have tried to steer clear of computers for a good while, but decided to start using them again for short periods throughout the day.

Currently, my recovery is unbelievably up and down, one day I almost feel myself, the next i'm majorly depressed, the next i'm experiencing anxiety beyond belief.

My head is ridiculously sensitive to movement, the slightest sudden movement gives me strange double vision (images stay in my vision for half a second after ive looked at something, its not constant double vision if that makes sense) and the periods of depression seem to be brought on by these movements and last 2 days or so. I'm currently seeing a physio and ear specialist who say this is hypersensitivity and i'm beginning to move thing slowly and seeing some results in the tolerance to movement, however sneezing is enough to make everything as hypersensitive as it was before (very frustrating process). Has anyone else experienced this ?

Also, the anxiety is brought on by what i can only assume is sudden rushes of blood to the head ( If I lie down straight after walking up the stairs it will happen, if I have sex it will happen, If I walk up a hill too fast it will happen) .
Anyway, was just sharing my current situation and seeing if anyone has any advice or experiences of their own like this,
Cheers, Sean

I forgot to mention that my symptoms of depression/anxiety are always worse when im sitting/lying down, its so bizarre, this has me stood up for 95% of the time. Am currently considering supplementing with Ginko Biloba, or perhaps even trying piracetam, does anyone have experience with these ?

EANH,

Your post sounds like my play book.

I has been 23 months now and things are much better but I still must pay attention...for instance. I went to my granddaughters 4H fundraiser last year and was on a very short time frame due to noise, lighting and people everywhere. This year I stayed for the entire event but had to step outside a couple of times to be in the quiet, it was a big accomplishment.

Last year I couldn't even walk because it wound me up so bad it took hours to come down. Now I am at the gym again, it does require some pacing and rest every few days to let my head calm down again but it is way forward progress.

One other item you mentioned was worth the anxiety, if you get my drift and I did get very anxious after.

Bud

Thanks for the reply bud,
so i take it you no longer get the anxiety after the deed is done! Did you have any tingling that accompanied the sensation, my left ear and the surrounding area seem to begin to tingle when i over do it, I am thinking this is a blood flow problem and perhaps I should just carry on , fight through the anxiety and let my brain sort itself out, and begin to loosen my neck muscles to improve circulation. The strange thing is that this reaction wasnt always here, it only started happeneing after christmas (along with all the sensitivity to movement) I did see a chiropractor a few months back and im thinking perhaps the muslces around my neck have seized up again, time to get stretching (very slowly)!

EANH,

I am much better off now.

When I remembered that there are some things it is ok to be wound up for I started doing better.

In a weird sort of way there were many things that were familiar but some of the sensations were foreign...I have had to relearn many things I already knew.

A for instance...I remembered that you get stiff and sore from a hard exercise but I couldn't remember what it felt like and when I was able to get back to the gym I had to ease my way back into what exercise felt like and what was acceptable stress. It all felt foreign yet the concepts and skills were still there.

Eanh,

I opted not to...not without pressure from the docs though.

Strictly a personal choice but I do wonder at times if I made the correct decision.

eanh,

If your neck muscle are tightening up, stretching them is not always the answer. Finding the cause of the spasm is more important. Gentle neck vertebra mobilization will help. Then, disciplined head and neck posture when you sleep or rest. Many sleep with their neck bent too much. Not good.
