Thanks Joanne ... for your sympathy and good recommendations. Well, I got to communicate for my daughter, because she very hardly can read and write. I print the posts and read it out to her. How can you get a private mail. I've been told (by the admin) that I need to have 10 posts to send an emaiaddress.OK, I' am looking forward to you respond. with best regards Oliver |
I think they are referring to messaging, which may be different.

Hi Mark again,
it's me Oliver. Well, what can I say. Got better but now is getting bad again my daughter said. She's having panic attacks. My question is: Is it dangerous to take tranquilizers to get her in a calm mood, so she can deal better with these circumstances and can it be that the "sickness" is a lot psychological and a treatment with Meds is appropriate? How long this will go on. My wife, our daughter and me are with our nerves on the braking point. Thank you for your notice. With Best Regards Oliver |
I've used clonazepam (benzo) and propranolol (beta blocker) to resolve panic attacks. Which I use depends on the situation. If my blood pressure is spiking, I use the propranolol. If my mind is just racing out of control, I take a 1/2 clonazepam.
What circumstances are triggering her events ? Sorry, Oliver. I remember your name but not any details. Duh, my brain is always struggling. |
Post Concussion Syndrome HOPE!
Oliver,
I COMPLETELY understand the frustration you are feeling. I know it has been several months but I just saw your post today. How is she feeling now? My daughter suffered the same injury nearly 2 years ago. She slipped on the ice and hit the back of her head. She had many symptoms including severe migraines lasting a week or longer, lack of concentration, completely flat personality, suicidal thoughts, etc. We live in a city (Minneapolis) that is on the cutting edge of medicine, we have excellent doctors and we even have a major traumatic brain injury clinic here. We went to the best of the best and had the same result you did. Her Neurologist told us flat out that her can't fix her brain. All he could do was try to help with the symptoms. At that point I started researching alternative therapy options and we tried them all! We also had her start using CBD oil (no THC) and that had a small but measurable effect. I also started reading everything I could about healing the brain. One of the books was called The Brain's Way of Healing by Dr. Norman Doidge. (FABULOUS BOOK!) In the appendix at the end, I found a short reference to a therapy called Matrix Repatterning Therapy. Dr. Doidge said "if you don't do anything else, do this!" I googled it and found there are only 7 people in the USA who perform this treatment and 1 of them is in my city!! He became our angel! My daughter went to him 9 times and is now 95% better. She still has some weakness in her eye muscles but that is a different therapy. This story is MUCH longer and there are other treatments that will help move her in the right direction but Matrix Repatterning is by far the most important. Canada is the best place (Toronto) to find practitioners. Most concussions can be treated in 4-7 sessions. They don't have to be spread apart either. She could be done in about 2 weeks if you decide to pursue it. Let me know if you have have any other questions but in the mean time DON'T GIVE UP!!! My daughter went from being basically bedridden/ house bound to a college student living in a dorm and studying biology/ pre-med!!! YOU just have to keep pushing and don't rely on the medical system to give you answers. Jen Quote:

jenichan,
What parts of your daughter's body did the Matrix Repatterning therapist work on ? It sounds like it has a lot of overlap with Myofascial Release, maybe even Myoworx, too. |
Matrix Repatterning
The therapy works on impact injuries of all kinds. For my daughter he spent time on the back of her head/ neck, inside her mouth on her jaw/joint, and the right side of her head between her forehead and temple. (When she was 2 she fell at the playground and hit her head hard in that same spot so it was interesting that he ended up focusing attention on that spot without knowing about that old injury.)
I am no expert but I don't think it's at all related to myofascial release. It treats the densest tissue- bones and fluid filled organs. There are a bunch of videos on youtube. They will help a bit but I still don't completely understand it. We have a close friend of ours (college kid) who was injured her senior year of high school. She struggled for a couple years before trying Matrix Repatterning with the same doctor. She only had 4 sessions and she was so transformed that she completely changed her major and is determined to become an MR therapist too. Like I said- its like watching a slow motion miracle... My myofacial release therapist did the same locations except not the temple. She did my jaw, inside and outside my mouth. My upper neck down to T-4 and the related muscles.
She worked my gut and other areas that had been dysfunctional due to the upper neck trauma. Her bio lists many protocols/disciplines. All to say, keep looking. There are people who have skills to do things that others can't. Unfortunately, not every therapist with the same credentials and training has the same skills. This is very evident with Carrick Institute trained chiros. |
Functional Neurology/ Matrix Repatterning/ Myofascial Release
We saw a functional neurologist who also worked the same areas but it was definitely very different treatment with very different results. Myofascial release works with the fascia. Matrix Repatterning corrects the impact injury to the bones and dense tissue. They may seem similar because of the area the therapist works on but the focus and method are completely different. I encourage you to research it.
Impact injuries such as a TBI can cause damage to more than one system so more than one treatment may be needed to see complete healing. The trick is finding the right combination for each person. Quote:
