Default Hot bath made me dizzy

Hey folks,

I just took a hot bath as i thought it would be a relaxing thing to do. But once i tried to stand up I kept getting dizzy and had to sit down from keeping feeling dizzy. I did manage to stand after a bit and put a bit of cold water on my face.

I was feeling decent yesterday and today until this. Now I feel foggy and am getting anxiety after this setback. I just did some breathing exercises to calm my nerves down.

Did i just screw up? Will this pass? I'm concerned.

I think it was just a temporary event. Hot baths can change blood flow. Once you have cooled down and let go of your anxiety, I bet you will be fine.

I had trouble for a good while after my accident if I had water standing in my ears for a period of time such as in the bath or pool...I took up swimming, it didn't pound my head.

When I tried earplugs and kept the water out the dizziness ceased.

I hoped that you were correct. But all of yesterday I felt off and wasn't feeling good. Today seems the same way. I just went for a 20 min walk to get an ice pack from the pharmacy and during the walk, i felt off and a bit dizzy. I never felt strange walking before during my PCS recovery. This is a new feeling. And I'm a bit nervous. I'm afraid that i acquired new PCS symptoms from taking that hot bath.

My anxiety is off the charts also. I feel so helpless right now.

Your 'off the charts' anxiety can be causing all of your new or current symptoms. Anxiety is a killer. It messes everything up. I guaranty you did not injure your brain with the hot bath.

I'm sure you'll get better too.
You may have stood up too fast after a long while lying down in a hot bath, which most likely caused a temporary disturbance in blood pressure but definitely not a new onset of PCS.
I have to agree that the anxiety that it created might come in play here. Make sure you adress that. Hang I there.

I've had too hot of baths before and super cold showers that made me feel crappy, but only for a few hours.

Now that my sympathetic system is calming down a bit, I can tolerate different temperatures better.

I highly recommend looking into syntonics (syntonic phototherapy).

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm sure the anxiety doesn't help. But I'm definitely having vision/dizzy issues over the last few days. Usually when I look down, then i look up/straight, it feels weird. Most of the dizzy issues stem from looking down with my neck.

I'm hoping its just a leftover from the hot bath and not something that will continue for the longterm.

If one is getting dizzyness, do you stop what you're doing and rest? I know that if i get a headache i take it easy. Is it the same process with dizzyness?

I had this same problem a few years back. It SUCKED! My Heart doctor said blood collected in the lower body from the heat of the bath and therefore blood pulled away from the brain. When you already have a brain injury (I have cerebral palsy) the nervous system can "panic" more in these situations of reduced blood flow. Yes my doctor said to immediately stop and sit down if dizzy. Hope this helps.
