Confused Bizarre fugue like state / awful blank memory episode

Hi everyone

I'm not sure this is the right forum to post this, and perhaps it belongs elsewhere, but I'll post it anyway.

Yesterday, I woke up after having about 5 hours sleep. Nothing unusual there, except that I literally felt like my entire memory / knowledge and perception of life/the world/everything I had learned had disappeared. My brain felt completely stuck and frozen for about 10-15 minutes, and I got out of bed in a complete panic, repeating any facts I could remember such as my name and where I lived etc over and over again.

The odd thing was that I could still walk and talk, my movement and speech/laguage was unaffected, but it was just recalling ANYTHING about any facts / thoughts etc had completely disappeared.

My head injury and post concussion last year have since resulted in various episodes of mind blanks, confusion and inability to understand the language in my own head at times (!) alongside a loss of my mind's eye (aphantasia), and I wonder whether this episode is some kind of amnesia or something? Maybe it's all to do with having just woken up, but it has happened several times before and this has been the worst. I'm probably analysing it far too much, but it was bloody frightening.

I have seen four neurologists about my head injury and (supposed, not confimed) drug-induced movemeny disorder and am soon to see a leading neurologist in London next week too. I will disucss this with him when I see him, but just thought I would ask here.

Any feedback / thought would be appreciated.

These episodes as one wakes up could be due to a sleep issue. I have Central Sleep Apnea from time to time. When I have an episode, I will have similar episodes. It usually means that even when the odd state is over, I will have a lousy day.

NooNooBrain,

We can help you better if you try to keep your posts in the same thread. That way, we can combine your new post with comments from previous posts. That context is helpful. There is no need to be concerned about the original subject. Many people will read your latest post regardless of the subject/heading.
