Default Regression

Hey,

A little background: I have been living in 3rd world countries for the past 2 years (still here). I have had 3 concussions the past year and a half. The first went away after a couple weeks, the 2nd took a little longer, and the 3rd I never fully recovered from. It's been about 7-8 months since the last one. Been taking a vitamin regimen for a couple months.

Just last week and the entire month before, I was FINALLY starting to feel well. I would say 90% normal and very happy. I have been hitting the gym for about a month and a week or so ago I went a little harder than usual, but still felt ok until a couple days later. All of the sudden, it's as if I have regressed to worse than ever before. (unsure if related to this or not)

I have some old symptoms return such as tiredness and "fainting" feelings, but the one scaring me is the new. I have developed serious anxiety. I mean 24 hours a day my gut and heart are in fight mode for the past few days. Every little thing is making me so angry that I want to punch a wall. I have never felt like this before. I am scared for my well being and those I love.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

oicud,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I have had similar events that were triggered by over-stimulation such as a loud environment. I have some rescue medicines that help. If my blood pressure is up with the anxiety, I take a propranolol. If it is just the anxiety, I take 1/2 dose of clonazepam. For me, one dose usually settles me down. Benzos like clonazepam should be taken sparingly.

If you want to try a natural treatment, 5-HTP might help. 100 mgs to start.

Stay away from all caffeine.
