Default Headaches migraines

Hi new here so over a year ago I received a concussion. I was at work and a pipe slide and hit me near the temple. ever since then I get really bad head aches and migraines, bad enough that Ive had to resign from work do to constantly leaving during shifts from headaches/migraines. I know research says to stay moderately active but any major activity can spur on a two to three day long headache or an intense migraine.

I guess Im at a loss what to do here, I wish medical marijuana was a legal option but it isnt here. Ive tried multiple medications and nothing stops the pain.

any advice ?

elderago,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

Sorry to hear you are struggling so. Have you tried combining acetaminophen/paracetamol and aspirin at maximum doses? It works almost as good as narcotics when I had my worst headaches.

What diagnostics have you had done?

I get vasospasms in my right temple from time to time that are intense but they only last a 15 to 30 seconds or so. They stop me in my tracks.

Where do you live?

CBD Hemp oil is technically illegal but much lower risk to get mailed to most US states if you are in the US. The sellers claim it is legal. The therapeutic dose can get expensive.

Is there a research study using CBD oil that you can apply to?

Neck injuries last far longer than one would expect. The fact that you are still symptomatic, even occasionally, suggests that your neck is contributing to your headaches. Concussions include a neck injury, often a subtle neck injury, 80 percent of the time.

It is necessary to be disciplined with 24/7 activities to help the neck heal and stabilize. Avoiding quick head movements, good posture, gentle therapy, inflammation reducing steps, and anything else that helps is important.

Regarding medical marijuana. CBD oil does not cause a high. The CBD oils sold online have little to no THC, the get high component. Minnesota is a reasonable place for accessing CBD oil. Minnesota law allows CBD for serious health conditions. Google Minnesota CBD oil. It is best absorbed under the tongue or vaped. Edibles have very low absorption rates.

I wish I had access to it in Idaho.

When you post, it is easier if you use the Post Reply button in the lower left. It does not quote the prior post. It is easier to scroll without a long post quoted. My short term memory is so poor that I scroll back and forth to prior post.

I have had great luck using CBD based MM.......People need to understand the difference between CBD from Hemp or from Marijuana.

Here are some links:

Hemp vs Marijuana | The Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana

Marijuana vs. Hemp: What's the Difference? | Westword

Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana | Medical Marijuana Inc.

I can not get difinitive proof that it is legal in all 50 states......It should be as long as it is hemp(.3 or less THC)

That would be the last thing I would be worried about....Its more the mess the DEA and our own inept Congress cross talk and solve nothing. I am hearing and seeing it advertised on radio and TV.....So if someone is in trouble it will be the seller not buyer...

Minnesota is a better state for Hemp based CBD.

Here is a link to the legalization of hemp in each state.
http://www.ncsl.org/research/agricul...-statutes.aspx

Some try to over-ride federal law. (Maine, Colorado, California, Oregon) Others have legalized it if federal law legalizes it. Most states limit the cultivation of hemp to research purposes in line with federal law.

DavOD's links are fraught with errors and misrepresentations. The Westword link has the least. They are all written in true marketing style. For example, the <0.3% THC is a restriction, not a characteristic of all hemp. The EU only allows <0.2% THC by dry weight. Only hemp with less than 0.3% THC can be grown according to the federal Farm Bill terms. Hemp growers need to use appropriate strains of hemp to stay below the threshold. They must use certified seed that tests to show the plants meet the <.3% THC limit.

Extensive research has been done to find the strains that will not exceed the 0.3% US or 0.2% EU limits. These limits are a misnomer. A <0.2% THC strain only has 1.3 to 1.6% CBD. This leaves a ratio or 1:9 to 1:20 THC:CBD ratio. The 1:20 ratio of THC to CBD is shown to have the best therapeutic value.
Here is one study.
https://www.votehemp.com/PDF/VariationOfTHCContent.pdf

With the complexity of hemp THC:CBD values, it is easy to see why Congress and the FDA are dragging their feet.
