How does physical labor put stress on your neck? Are you pushing on things with your head? Are you doing straining lifts?

Yes i was helping relatives move. Which involved heavy lifting and assembling furniture. But all is well now since i started physio. The fatigue is now mild and although the tinnitis is still there it's getting milder. Apparantly I'm somwhat lucky to have a more treatable form of tinnitus. In theory it should go away with a few months of physio. If not i can get injections to make it stop. But it's already much better so i hope i dont need the injections.

Greetings

Trigger point massage and dry needling in trigger points can treat some forms of tinnitus. For me, the tinnitus stems from muscle spasms. There is no damage to my ear nor hearing loss. The tinnitus purely comes from a muscular problem. I'm going to a neurophysio for this. It really helps the tinnitus go down. The physio i go to is fairly young and told me these are very recent insights. Up to a few years ago they had very little knowledge about this form of tinnitus. And they still don't fully know what mechanism is behind this.

My second option is trigger point injections with muscle relaxants or paralysers. Like botox. This can be a quick fix but not a long term solution. Physio is better long term.

Third treatment option is most invasive and very risky. This is steroid injections right through the eardrum. This is only an option if all else fails and the tinnitus is severe. Doctors only do this as a last option. And personally i don't think I'm going to do this because there is a risk for becoming deaf.

All these treatment options have no garantuees and are for a subgroup of somatic tinnitus. It won't help hearingloss or nerve damage tinnitus for example.

Physio made my tinnitus go from horrible to annoying in 5 sessions. So I'm sticking with it. Wish i knew about this months ago. My ent told me that the biggest problem with tinnitus is that most people dont know the cause. And if you dont know the cause you cant treat it.
