Default Concussion

Three days ago I hit my head snowboarding pretty hard. I have had constant headaches since then and have felt really out of it. This will now be my third concussion. My first lasted 6 months and my second lasted 3 months. However, this time my neck has been in a lot of pain, that is symptom I have not experienced before. Any explanations?

80% of concussions include a neck injury. The whiplash effect of many concussions can cause all of the normal concussion symptoms.

A PT who has good understanding of whiplash and concussions can often help. Upper cervical chiros help some. The most important part is that a therapist can only reduce the misalignment/subluxation. The patient needs to protect the neck so the ligaments can strengthen.

Were you wearing a helmet?

Yes I was wearing a helmet. Although I do not think there was very much whip lash. When I fell, I fell forward with my face absorbing a lot of the impact.
